G3 ~ Nets (0-1) @ Pistons (0-2) ~ 7:30 PM EST

Post#1 » by whitehops » Fri Oct 31, 2014 6:41 pm

Home Opener!

We finally get Monroe back after he was suspended the first two games because of his DUI, augustin will likely start (my guess, not official) and we won't have to play joel Anthony for 20 minutes a game. apparently cartier martin is listed as questionable, which means he might be a game-time decision.

The nets lost their first game of the season and will be playing without brook lopez who still has foot problems.

Starters:
Nets
Deron Williams
Bojan Bogdanovic
Joe Johnson
Kevin Garnett
Mason Plumlee

Pistons
D.J. Augustin
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Kyle Singler
Josh Smith
Andre Drummond

Let's get it! Let's please keep the negativity to a minimum, folks.

Can't wait to see the overreaction to Monroe having a good game.

Yup, I'll be the first to say I was wrong. I was a little hurt Monroe did us like that but I can honestly see why he would with Smith on this roster now.

Yeah its bad when its literally embarrassing to have this guy on your team. I feel like he makes us the joke of the league right now.

To be honest, I didn't think Smith would implode like that on and off the court. There's nothing you can really do to salvage the guy's career. He'll always be an inefficient chucker with low IQ without reliable post moves. Synergy backs this up as well as eye test.

I just hope Stan gets it. If we somehow move this guy, we may be able to salvage this season and maybe even get back on track with Monroe. These last two games and have shown me how much he means to this team. Monroe demands double-teams in the post quite often and Drummond either cuts to the hoop or has a clear shot at an offensive rebound coming from the baseline. We need Monroe.

Can we start -

Augustin
KCP
Butler
Monroe
Anthony

Dre needs a kick in his ass as well. If Stan is looking to send early season messages...

I definitly dont want to lose our home opener,I really hope dre comes out with high energy because of the opener and has a 25 pt 15 rb 2 blk game.Iam also happy that moose will be back to anchor that second unit, because god knows we need it.If butler can produce half of what he did last game then I wouldnt mind him starting.Kcp needs to hit the gym and shoot 1000 3s and 1000 mid-range shoots and come in looking like he did in pre season.

I expect to win this game.

I think he'd get less hate if he was washed up, because at least then we'd know he's playing badly because of lack of talent and athleticism. Everyone is frustrated with him because they know he has talent and he's still a terrific athlete, and yet he never tries to address the problems in his game after so many years in the league. Because if he did, he'd stop jacking up jumpers and taking dumb shots. A 6'9 freak athlete power forward who can move like a small forward should not so inefficient offensively. And it's funny because he's an elite finisher around the rim. If he stopped shooting jumpers and stuck to post ups/transition/pick and roll shots he'd be so much better.

Monroe has his issues for sure (hasn't made for significant improvements since his 2nd year), but I think I speak for most of us when I say I'd switch his/Smith's contracts in a heartbeat.

First I would like to thank you for taking a rational approach and not just bashing for the sake of it because its smith,I always enjoy your posts and even if I dont agree I still respect them.

I totally agree, but I am taking a wait and see approach,I want to wait until monroe gets back and give it some more time in stans new system befor I hit the eject button on smith.I know the arguemnt about why smith wouldnt change now if he hasant in his carreer, but were talking about stan and if he cant get josh to play to his strengths, then no one can.

I don't think any coach in the NBA can change him, but yeah, you're right, it's still early in the season. And likewise homie, having a rational debate free from bashing is easy to do with the quality posters on this board.

I think it'll be anothere competitive game, but Detroit will win this one. It will be interesting to see how DWill performs and if we can play defense effectively against a big guy like Teloltivic.
Also excited to see how Monroe gets rotated around, as well as Augustin.

Spelling close enough. :)

this might be an overreaction but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if smith got the Jennings treatment.

we'd probably have a lineup of augustin-KCP-singler/butler-Monroe-Drummond playing most of the game.

I hope it doesn't come to that, as i'm excited to see what SVG had planned now that the big 3 is back and in full effect.
