He's buried in Orlando and they have prospects they value more than him. He's a tenacious defender, has improved his jumpshot, and is still very young. He's definitely a better fit than Singler and I bet he can be had for pennies.

I'm not sure I want to give up assets for a guy that is buried on the Magic bench. He could pan out but I don't know if it's worth it. I was thinking of Smith trades that would get us a SF and I came up with this trade with WAS that would need to wait until Dec 25th:

Josh Smith, 2015 1st rounder

for

Otto Porter, Kris Humphries, Dejuan Blair, Rasual Butler

Why for WAS? They get another piece to try and put them over the top. Smith becomes a 4th or 5th offensive option behind Wall, Beal, Pierce, and maybe even Gortat. Nene becomes a super sub that can back up the 4 and 5 and gives them an improved big man rotation. They also get a pick for taking on the risk and giving up Porter. Porter would also be stuck behind Pierce and Webster (when he returns) in the rotation so they won't be losing much.

Smith would be gone and Monroe could step in as our go-to offensive big man. If he's cheap i don't see why not. he shoots 33% from 3 which i think puts him out of consideration for SVG.

I like Mo Harkless he'd be great for the Pistons future. I'd rather get him in FA than trade for him there's no rush. Unless their trying to take Smith off our hands.

Turner has had several years to prove he is a bust. Porter has just been injured and has looked pretty good when he has actually gotten onto the floor. Again, we would also be dumping Smith.

My point was his draft position means nothing and adds no extra value for us.

But Otto Porter sucks and is not worth our pick in 2015

Make the deal Porter, Humphries, Trash for Smith

Washington keeps DeJuan Blair and they trade Porter for the chance to become a real threat in the East

Wall - Beal - Pierce - Smith - Nene/Gortat is a sick lineup

Meanwhile for us Humphries/Anthony will back up Monroe/Drummond and Porter gets a legit shot at starting SF
