lets get this kid. whatever it takes. versatile defender and a Van Gundy guy. local kid. throw $12M a yr at him and pray the Warriors don't match. sub him in for Smith on the roster and we got everything we'd need for a dominant front court for the next 4-5 years, assuming we get Monroe to sign.

Seems like too much but then again hes been a really good player ever since his MSUs days. Highest I would go is 8-9 mil.

He decent but not worth $12m most I would go is the butler deal $4.5m seems about right to me.

I think he can get a Meeks deal easily and I'd sign him for that much. 8 mill sounds about right.

$8M would be my top offer as well - I don't think the "Detroit tax" would be as high because he is a local to the area afterall, but he'd be going from a contender to a sad sack situation.

Golden State probably matches that though. They'll just give Barnes to Philly or something.

This discussion is interesting... how much do you pay a second round draft pick that's clearly exceeded expectations and is now a starter on a very good team?

Last year, mostly coming off the bench (12 starts, but under 22 min/game), Draymond only averaged 6.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.9 apg, plus around a steal and a block. He only shot 40.7%, 33.3% from three.

Note, however, that he was improving during the season, and by the time the playoffs rolled around, he averaged over 32 minutes, around 12 ppg, 8 boards, 3 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.7 steals. He also shot about 47% in the post-season.

Now he's starting and putting up numbers very similar to last year's post-season. Despite his athletic limitations, he's considered a good defender, and he seems to have refined his three point stroke... it's early, but he's 7 of 14 so far this year from downtown.

I've LOVE to have Draymond -- I was worried about his slow game transferring to the NBA, but he's picked it up and adapted. He's always been a very smart player; Izzo absolutely loved him. The question is, how much? 12 million a year is clearly ridiculous. Caron Butler's contract isn't even close, though.

If we WANT him, meaning we'll offer enough to make GSW hesitate and let him leave, it may take 9 or 10 million a year. I think they keep him at 8 for sure, because he's that valuable to them and Barnes hasn't really worked out well.

So, Pistons fans, are you willing to spend 3/30 or 4/40 on Draymond Green? I'm guessing that's what it'll take. Me, I'm not sure.

GS matches anything under 10, maybe more. Green is very underrated. GS only knows his true value. If GS had to choose between the two, they'd pick Green over Barnes long term. can defend anyone between the 2-4, shoots and spreads the floor well, can play inside and rebounds, not to mention his intangibles and bball IQ.

He's an ideal fit with SVG and could form the perfect pair with either Drummond or Monroe. All three could probably play together. We're desperate for a player of his caliber and they're not realistic free agent options too often.

Mostly agree... except Draymond guarding the 2 is pure fantasy. He'd be better off guarding Shaq than trying to guard KCP. Way too slow for that.

Wait. I didn't know Draymond was starting...There's your answer. Try to get Barnes. I'd throw 10 million at Draymond. If they match, throw 8-10 mill on Barnes and see if they match that.

I think regardless we're going to try to get a solid SF. But I'm not sure what's going to happen with our "Big 3." So far they're 2-0 starting together. I think SVG will use them again on Sunday against Utah and see what happens from there.

Absolutely not whatever it takes. Trevor Ariza just got 8m/yr and I would take him over Draymond, even if it cost Detroit 10m/yr. Draymond is on a team stacked with talent, and that makes it difficult for me to judge whether he's benefiting from that, or being strangled by it. In this case, I think it's playing to his benefit. We don't have the offense talent that GS has, and I think that plays into Green getting good offensive opportunities. Defensively, GS has some solid players as well in Bogut, Iggy, and Klay Thompson. We MIGHT get there in a few years with KCP and Dre, but we aren't close right now.

This team has a couple years to go before we even come close to contending. There isn't any reason why we shouldn't be trying to uncover a player of our own, instead of trying to buy some mediocre guy off the FA market. If we were a decent SF away, I'd absolutely say throw 10-12m at someone like this if it was affordable. But right now it's a waste.

Right now Jennings looks good enough to be a starter. Spend a first rounder on a SF, take a stab at one of the RFAs that hasn't panned out yet, and see where we are in 2-3 years, when this team should be peaking.

He's starting at PF I believe.

4/42 is probably what it would take to get GS to decline. He does so many of the little things, and he's starting to get better at the big things. He also has a knack of coming up big when it counts. I'd love to have him, but he's going to come with a hefty price tag because GMs around the league can see what he does. Jennustin/KCP/Dray/Monroe/Drummond. I like that, even though I'm not sold on Dancing Bear's 3 pt shooting - something he would absolutely have to hit with consistency if he is playing with Monroe and Drummond.

Meeks money is the right answer. So probably 8-9 mil/year to get him here

He was one of the X-Factors of why GSW was effective in the playoffs last year. He's a solid, solid player that would fit with the Monroe and Dre tandem with a big 3 kind of rotation.

I wouldn't go over 10 mil for him. He will get paid decently though.

You never know who's going to get what these days. You got players like Hayward getting Maxes. That's a joke. Watch Jackson get a massive deal too. I can see Draymond getting a big deal too. Players his caliber are hard to find that play strong on both ends of the floor.

With that said, if KCP keeps playing the way he's playing, by the time his extension comes, you're looking at at least 10-12 million just to keep him ala Hamilton money.

Makes you think about how Jennings', when playing well, contract is at a great price. On the other hand, it also makes Smith's contract a little bit easier to swallow.
