If Detroit doesn't beat Philly, could lose 20 straight +...

Post#1 » by Kilo » Fri Dec 5, 2014 7:10 pm

I guess in the grand scheme of things two 10 game losing streaks split up by a single win is no different than a 21 game losing streak. However looking at the Pistons schedule after hosting the 76ers on Saturday -

Oklahoma City with Durant back
Portland
@PHX
@Sacto
@LAClippers
Dallas
Toronto
@Brooklyn
Indiana
@Cleveland
@Orlando
@NYK
Sacto
@San Antonio
@Dallas

Only winnable games are @BKLN, Indiana, @Orlando and @NYK as we'll be the underdog going into all those games nonetheless.

So say we beat Philly and get a couple of those "winnable games" I listed above, we'll be 6-29 after this stretch of games.

Bloody Hell.

With our luck, we'll get the 2nd worst record in the league but drop down to 5th in the draft

its time to bottom out. rebuild with drummond and kcp. if we land #1 pick id look hard at okafor. I would love to trade back and get multiple 1st rd picks bc zak irvin and stanley johnson look nice to draft. we can always nab a pf and pg through FA

Also, it would be wise to let greg monroe walk and offer a very nice contract to reggie jackson

That schedule looks beautiful to me. Im dead set on getting a top 3 pick and seeing jennings as a expiring contract after this season. I doubt we lose too Philly though.

If we get #1, I trade it and Josh Smith and fall back to 3-4-5 range and draft one of the SF's. If said trade partner can take on Smiths contract without having to send players back (ir Philly) than we'd have $36M under the cap this off-season as well.

Our schedule unfortunately does get a lot easier in the new year though, and we'll have to work to win less than 30 games even if we're 6-29 after this stretch.

Dont want Jackson at all, Rather throw a big deal at Rondo or Dragic.

I try to poach Butler. But I wonder if that would be Stan Van's style to bid up RFA's...

I meant he will be on a expiring contract next season. And I see no similarities between Smith and Rondo. Rondo is a very high IQ player and fierce competitor. I just view him as a player who others feed off of his energy and tenacity. He cant shoot but he knows it and doesnt hurt his team doing so.

he doesn't shoot a lot but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt his team.

when his man backs off him because he knows he can't shoot it essentially shrinks the court. if you don't believe me his teams are usually better offensively when he's on the bench. despite his assist numbers he is pretty much a ballhog, and I know that's an oxymoron.

At this point I'd be ok with a 6-29 record cause at least we have a draft to look forward to lol. Maybe we can get Okafor or a SF the last thing I want right now is a pg. probably can get one of those easy in a future draft or FA on a decent contract cause quality pg's are so common in todays NBA right now.

I think our guard situation is pretty good for the next couple years to be honest. we have Jennings on the books next year so we can slowly keep giving Dinwiddie more minutes (move him above augustin on the depth chart) and by the end of next year we should have a decent idea of what kind of potential Dinwiddie has. at shooting guard we're probably even more set, since we have both meeks and KCP for two years after this season. both Jennings and meeks can do a passable job while our young guards (who have shown potential) can develop.

it's worth noting that despite being a second round pick Dinwiddie was given a three year fully guaranteed contract, I think that shows how much faith SVG has in him since most second round rookies are lucky to get past the first year under contract. also worth noting is that SVG not breaking the bank in free agency this year he had the cap space to sign Dinwiddie for more than two years and thus has his bird rights. *teams that are over the cap can't sign min. players for more than two years*

EDIT: actually I think there might be a team option on the third year of Dinwiddie's contract.

I hope they end with a 73 game losing streak which would make them 3-79. They need top of the draft talent. A lot of it. Tired of the 7/8/9 picks.

Honestly, I'm loving this at this point. It was painful at first because so many of us predicted the playoffs (and many non-Piston fans too) but now that I'm fully on the tank bandwagon I'm excited for our future. We are on track for a great pick and on top of that all of this losing is going to force to SVG to make moves. We could be looking at a very different team next year. I'm curious/excited/scared to see what happens next.

No, do not throw a big deal at Rondo. No more toxic contracts on this team. He's literally shooting the Celtics out of games this season. His stats, while not great, are very inflated by stat-padding. Not only is he bad in clutch situations, he's shooting 40% from the field, and 26% from the line this season. That might be historically bad for a PG.

Pull a Philly and tank hard!

They've got Noel, MCW, Saric, JE locked and loaded and will add another top pick...all while finding decent role players like McDaniels, Wroten, Covington & Sims

IF it works they'll be awesome in 2 years...if ut doesn't then at least they spent 4 years full of hope!

We've had 5 disastrous seasons and for what? Drummond & KCP? Thanks Joe!

The lowest we can go is the 4th pick if we are top 3
