Who starts when Meeks returns?

Post#1 » by jakebernat » Tue Dec 9, 2014 6:12 pm

If it were up to me, I'd start both KCP and Meeks on the wings with moose next to Drummond. KCP has proven to be our best defender, and I think it'd be a mistake to once again stunt his development. Bring Smith off the bench and let him take command of the 2nd unit while being surrounded by shooters. What do you guys think?

I think Meeks will ease his way in and thus KCP will still start. However I think once Jodie is up to speed that Stan Van will start him with Kentavious coming off the bench. Pope getting some minutes at small forward would be interesting, but I don't think you start him there.

Agree Meeks/KCP is the way to go. Also agree on Moose, but I think you'll continue to see Smith.

Well KCP getting minutes at the 3 is better than smith, singler, or butler getting heavy minutes there. I say why not? The season's already a lost cause, might as well go all out on developing the young talent we have.

That being said, I'd look to package jennings and singler together for whatever we can get, preferably a draft pick, start DJ, and bring dinwiddie into the rotation.

I'd imagine KCP continues to start as Meeks will have a ton of rust, and need to be eased back into the rotation.

I'd love to see Jennings/Meeks/KCP/Monroe/Drummond, but it will never happen.

Augustine or Jennings if he only facilitates & doesn't shoot, Meeks, KCP, Monroe, Drummond would win us more games or at-least make the games watchable but that isn't going to happen on Stan's watch.

Dinwiddie still looks a little lost out there. Vs the blazers he had a few plays that he could have got to the rim but pulled out only to over dribble or pass to monroe on the perimeter. He needs to get his confidence up.

KCP will continue to start. Meeks will come off the bench until he catches up conditioning wise. I think at some point there may a scenario where Meeks starts at the 2 and KCP mans the 3.

I hope to see Dinwiddie eat some minutes as well.

Defensively he's looked better than both our starters. ITs not like our current starters are leading us anywhere, why not let the kid get some run, at worst he gains experience we still lose. At best he takes over the job. A lot to ask for a 2nd round pick, however i think he has the talent

I'd love to see it. He seems like a guy that could take on that kind of challenge and he'd be a lot more confident after a few weeks.
Sadly it won't happen. :(

How it should be:

Drummond 33/Monroe 15
Monroe 18/Smith 30
Singler 18/Butler 16/KCP 14
KCP 16/Meeks 24/Dinwiddie 8
Jennings 30/Dinwiddie 18

Forget DJ, Martin and JJ

9 man rotation where we play the kids and Josh gets enough minutes to command the tank

I'd love to see a 3 guard lineup when Meeks gets his rhythym back.

It would be a faster team with more spacing and better defense on the wings.

Jennings/Meeks/KCP/Monroe/Drummond

Dinwiddie needs to be 1 guard off the bench, 2nd pg.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!
