Pistons "active" in trade talks
Per Mlive...SVG, "We're 5-21, so I don't think you need to say a whole lot else," he said. "I'm just being honest. Of course, we're talking to people and seeing if there's things we can do, both now and positioning ourselves for the future.

I bet we keep Smith. Get rid of Jennings.

Re: Pistons "active" in trade talks
I just don't see any real market - Dallas only made the Rondo trade because he agreed to re-sign there. I certainly don't expect Monroe to do that - so his market is zero even if he would accept a trade right now. Smith has negative value, Jennings has negative value. Dre isn't going to be moved. Meeks and KCP won't be moved this season.
Only players we could see moved are tweaks - Singler as an expiring, Jerebko as an expiring, Butler as an expiring and maybe DJ Augustin if somebody is looking for a veteran point back-up and Stan feels Dinwiddie is ready for an increased role here.
Our best chance for a drastic make-over comes in the off-season when we could S&T Monroe, Jennings will now be an expiring contract, we could potentially trade our lottery pick (top three luck) to move back 2-3 spots and dump Smith in the process and will have about $20M in cap space to hopefully go RFA hunting.

Re: Pistons "active" in trade talks
Greg Monroe needs to go. Josh Smith is actually starting to build some chemistry with Dre. Jennings needs to go. Considering we probably can't trade Smith for expirings or value.. I'd honestly rather keep him if we can move Monroe and Jennings.
Smith is not a first option like he's having to play.. 3rd or 4th option and he may be useful yet. He is playing harder and sharing the ball lately. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Re: Pistons "active" in trade talks
Bottom-line - Smith OR Jennings needs to go.. Every team can have a knucklehead, but not two in the starting lineup taking most of the shots.. One of them has to go.. Smith's contract would be nicer to move but as far as playing goes.. Jennings is the one I'd like to see traded.

Pistons desperately need a star perimeter player. Someone who can break down the D and make other players job easier.

Yea smith is not awful his contract and him being a number 1 option is what makes him look bad. Put smith with a star player and watch what happens.

Re: Pistons "active" in trade talks
Hopefully Stan sees this Rondo deal and the pieces Ainge got and realizes what our options are. Lose Moose or get SOMETHING (if greg agrees to it). That being said, there is no way we'd do a sign and trade with Monroe because there's no team who would give him 5 years.

Re: Pistons "active" in trade talks
So Stan says he is after energy guys and guys with quickness.
Well looking through the league who are guys that bring either energy or quickness or both that Stan may be looking at?
Some players are having issues on their own teams, others are just role players going about their business.
I would say from the list below that any of them could be had.
Here are a few that I can think of:
Corey Brewer
Kenneth Faried
Jay Crowder
JaVale McGee
Alonzo Gee
Wesley Johnson
Ed Davis
Quincy Pondexter
Norris Cole
Thaddeus Young
Mo Harkless
Gerald Green
Reggie Evans
James Johnson
Jeremy Evans
There isn't an abundance of shooting there but there are a few players I would be happy to have become Pistons.
