Not sure why we made this trade, TBH. I'm not a big Mitchell fan, but idk what role Tolliver would fill on this team. We need a backup C more than another PF.

As long as Tolliver doesn't look high all the time, should be an upgrade.

Dude always rained threes from what I remember of him in Minny. Welcome addition.

Wow, interesting trade. Couldn't we have thrown Jennings in as a freebie!? You know how Phoenix loves their point guards.

Tolliver is immediately the best stretch 4 in Detroit. This will give Stan a better idea of how Drummond and offense will function with a 4 that the defense has to respect.

Suddenly, Jerebko sees his minutes disappear yet again. lol. Poor fella.

I'm actually wondering if this trade means we're going to start Jerebko and Drummond, and bring in Tolliver and Monroe to back them up. Otherwise, if we start Monroe and Drummond, our only backup C is Joel Anthony.

That's pretty much the one skill he has and has kept him in the NBA because PF's who can hit the 3 with consistency are a rare commodity.

Doubtful. I'd predict Monroe and Drum start and Tolly is the first big off the bench. Jerebko probably splits minutes with Tolly, and Anthony may get some burn as well.

If they started Tolliver, I think SVG would just be unabashedly tanking. The dude really doesn't have any basketball skills outside of his shooting. We'd be absolutely murdered on defense.

I suppose the main question after this trade is are we still trying to make the playoffs. It's kind of a weird trade if we aren't. We just took on over 2 million more than we would've had if we'd kept Mitchell.

I like it. Tolliver has a $3 million non-guaranteed contract for next season which is similar to Butler's. They could make an interesting package in the offseason for a team looking to shed salary immediately.

Could this indicate that Jerebko is on the way out? Why bring in another stretch 4 when Jerebko has been playing well and is slated for more minutes?

Maybe JJ gonna get more minutes at the 3? I really don't understand this trade tho.

BR says Tolliver's second year is 3M, but only 400K is guarenteed.. so if it doesn't work, we can just cut him.
Low risk, potentially decent reward? I guess he'll get some of Josh Smith's minutes. Drummond/Monroe will still get a lot of time next to each other and both will start.

Not sure what people don't get about the trade. It's practically risk-free. Only $400k is guaranteed next season if he's cut.

It gives SVG a cheap way to experiment with Drummond and a stretch 4. Jerebko can shoot the 3 a little, but Tolliver is substantially better at spreading the floor.

Mitchell is crud, but maybe he might be better in up tempo PHX, or they might try him at the three or something. Probably made this move in case of foul trouble to Dre and Moose is needed at the five for the game. Tolliver is a journeyman who will probably exist to push Jerebko for minutes. 96 minutes at the 4 and 5 combined each game, even if Moose and Dre get 32 each that still leaves 32 for Jerebko, Anthony, now Tolliver. I don't think JJ is a 32 mpg player, so now he can play 25ish and the other 10 can go to Tolliver or Anthony or whomever.

I understand it. I just get the same feeling I assume I would if we went out and got a starting caliber PF now that Monroe/Drummond is the obvious frontcourt pairing. It just kind of throws off the obvious in that Jerebko would be getting the backup PF minutes seeing as how he has earned it.
