Who's next to get traded?

Post#1 » by RexRyan » Wed Dec 24, 2014 11:42 pm

There's quite a few to choose from..... Monroe? JJ? Jennings? Caron? A case can be made for all......

My vote is DJ Augustin. He's easier to trade than BJ, and if SVG wants to play Dinwiddie, someone has to go. DJ for a big and/or second rounder......

I think it's jennings.

After the tolliver trade, our front court looks fairly set for now. And SVG has mentioned he wants to give Dinwiddie more minutes, so one of the PG's needs to go. IMO DJ stays because he's cheaper and he's one of SVGs signings.
I haven't hated Jennings this season apart from his shooting, but I doubt think he sticks around.

I want either Jennings or Augustin to get traded so Dinwiddie can get a bunch of minutes the rest of the season.

Monroe is almost the least likely to be traded out of those IMO. I could see Jennings being traded since arguably the Smennings combo was the worst of Dumars' mistake when he was our GM. Flush out the mistakes first approach is pretty good to start.

Believe me, I hope it's Jennings too. But who really wants him at this point? Is there a contender who needs a starting point guard? Is there a contender who has the money for an eight million dollar backup? Is there a crappy team that wants Jennings for two years and is willing to sacrifice their flexibility?

I think it'll be DJ to a contender.

I honestly don't think we're going to make another trade. In my opinion, the market for Jennings is way too small to actually deal him now.

You are right, there's no obvious trade partner for Jennings and his salary is too much for a contender to really accommodate, plus any team that's any good is set up at PG. Jennings is probably too old for a rebuilding team to think they can fix.

I think we'll try to package Singler and change to a contender for a draft pick, at least I hope we do. He's a FA this year and is a bit old to be a real part of the future.

You don't think Singler can be an effective role player in the NBA for the next 6-7 years? He's a role player, his age doesn't matter.

Yep. I think we’re done until the trade deadline unless something very impressive comes up.

Joel Anthony to the Cav's, maybe, Butler, Anthony, and Augestine for K Perkins, Mcgary or 1st?, Jennings&Datome for Steve Nash and 2nd rd Pick, Singler for K Anderson, maybe we flip Perkins again before the deadline if a playoff team loses a center. I think we make another trade possibly more. I wouldn't be suprised if Dimwiddie is our starting pg after the trade deadline, I'd be going for it if I'm SVG. We are as bad as philly and there they have been trying to tank it out and pick up prospects. We need to deal the assets for whatever we can get and rebuild just as they are the rest of the season. Let dimmwiddie play 30min, put kcp in at the three. Expand the roles

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Aaron Gray Cartier Martin both have player options next year that I'm sure they'll pick up. Small contracts. DJ is just a guaranteed 2nd year? And same with Jennings. We could keep Jennings and maybe deal those other 3 ($5.5mil) for an expiring or Jennings too for an additional $8.5. That's an extra $14 million added to our cap space next summer($25mil??)
If we're lucky we could have enough to offer two players max contracts. Lol not likely anybody accepts that but maybe you get lucky if Lamarcus and K Leonard are best friends and want to come play with Drummond lol. Fingers crossed.
My preferred way of doing things is signing guys to Meeks level of salary and having a bunch of guys that work hard and love the dam game. Not guys that get paid(JSmith) and stop caring and trying

DJ Augustin is the obvious option to trade...

Post#17 » by Kilo » Thu Dec 25, 2014 7:09 pm

He's probably have the most value to contenders who will look to shore up their PG depth heading into the playoffs with a solid veteran who has been well coached in his career. Could be had for a future 2nd if traded for an expiring and it would be a win-win-win for all parties - DJ plays for a contender, we get out from under his 2015 contract, Dinwiddie gets more PT and his new team gets a solid insurance policy PG vet for their title run.

It probably should be DJ Augustin.

He'd be easily moveable if he was having a halfway decent season, but unfortunately he's not.

I considered Drummond as an option, but if SVG wanted him gone, Smith would still be on the roster on the chance that he could have been traded with Andre.

I think Moose gets a 25 game tryout next to Drummond - if SVG doesn't like it Moose goes at the deadline if possible. But I think DJ goes first....
