Player who has benefited most from Josh Smith departure?
What Piston player has benefited most from the Josh Smith departure?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

As of right now it's been pretty much everyone. Drummond has a lot more space to work with and everyone else has more space to shoot with because of Drummond down low. I like how Drummond is getting those assist in the last game too. Just bring the defense in and kick it out for a open 3, The Stan Van Way.

Isn't the answer literally everyone? The team, management, the fans.

If I have to pick one player, I'll go with Brandon Jennings. Seems like not only does Smith's removal allow BJ7 to have the ball in his hands more, it has also allowed his personality to open up more. He is no longer deferring to the alpha dog.
Overall, the whole team has seemed to have a much more positive vibe in personality. But in terms of actual play.

This, although second would have to be DJ. The Piston point guards have both benefited from having JS out of the way. The team seems to benefit from having the PGs run the offense.

Jennings for sure. The one bad game he's had in this 4 game stretch came in a game where DJ was playing really well anyway and we were up big.

Re: Player who has benefited most from Josh Smith departure?
Jennings mostly. If you look at statistically how many times Smith took the ball down the floor, you'd almost want SVG fired. You take those touches away from smith and give it to jennings. All of a sudden our transition offense is a little more dangerous and we benefit from defensive stops that lead to transition offense.
Per KL jennings also "became himself again", was beign vocal and honestly as much as i hate it, playin w some swag.
If not jennigns, most surely Poop. He's been actually great all year, still not as consistent as we want, but definitely value off our bench. and more minutes

If I was in the mood for trying to make people laugh I'd say Anthony Tolliver. Then I'd remember that Tolliver was traded for, with Mitchell, so us waiving Smith didn't directly correlate with us signing Tolliver. So, no, Tolliver didn't benefit from Smith's departure, pers se. So the "joke" wouldn't have made any real sense, even if it was funny. Which it definitely wasn't.
In summary, Jennings.

Probably my blood pressure, been a real team player over the years, always taking one for the team
In reality, it's almost impossible to pick one, so I'll say "Yes" as well.

Andre Drummond - 30.9 mpg, 15.0 ppg (.627 FG%, .--- 3PT%, .297 FT%), 15.8 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.8 spg, 2.4 bpg, 1.6 tpg, 2.8 fpg
Brandon Jennings - 26.6 mpg, 21.6 ppg (.558 FG%, .486 3PT%, .833 FT%), 3.0 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.0 bpg, 2.0 tpg, 1.8 fpg

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Indeed, there is great rejoicing!
It's been fun seeing the Pistons look like a team again. They couldn't seem to help one another for quite a while, but suddenly they're doing a pretty good job of it. Hope they keep up the unselfish play.

Re: Player who has benefited most from Josh Smith departure?
Jennings I think is the obvious guy who has benefited the most.
Also, Jerebko, Joel Anthony, and the newly acquired Anthony Tolliver have all greatly benefited getting extra minutes and allowing us to stretch the floor more.

Re: Player who has benefited most from Josh Smith departure?
I would like to say Monroe for totally selfish reasons. I would hope he likes playing better rather than having to defer to Smith. I'm not sure how good the odds are of us signing him to an extension, but I'm sure they got a little better when Josh got waived, maybe even better now that we are starting to win.
