Lakers interested in Jennings and Monroe trade rumor

Post#1 » by MotownMadness » Tue Jan 13, 2015 12:05 am

Ramona Shelbourne-

As for Lakers, they have been very active since 12/15. Made calls on Waiters, Jennings, Monroe. Asst GM Glen Carraro is working the phones.

Seen it on the GB, Don't know what they could offer that would even get our attention.

Could def see Jennings going there...
Randle for Monroe (let them try to re-sign him)
Nash and exchanging 1st rounders (options in our favor) for Jennings.

Still have big FA $s available this summer

The streak is great... may even get us in the playoffs but does it get us closer to the ultimate goal?

Yes, why trade Monroe for a guy that broke his leg and may not live up to the hype anymore?

Ah, so you're guaranteeing that Randle will not recover and we will re-sign GM... if you're afraid of change you will never succeed.

Moose AIN'T gonna waive his No Trade Clause. And they probably offered crud for Jennings. I'd do Lin for Jennings straight up, but they probably wanted to give Nash's contract or something, and as much as I don't think Jennings is the long term answer here - he helps us win now, and that's more important than moving him for nothing at this time.

Kilo, can't argue with you about Monroe waiving the NTC... was thinking about the big market $'s they could throw at him with the L.A. endorsements... it's just a fun thing to throw out there.
I knew this would not be popular but saw the possibility of FA money plus buying low on a high pick from last year that could fit vs just watching G.M. walk.

He could sign there in the off-season, but he'd not going to burn his Bird Rights. I understand that Lakers could S&T him if he didn't want to re-sign there with their cap space - I just don't think a mid-season move is something Moose would think was good for him. Not to mention the Lakers would offer nothing since there are no guarantees he'd sign there, so why would Detroit let him see if the grass is greener for no real return, and give up his still valuable Bird Rights for whatever crud LA was offering.

I don't see any way they give us Randel, so they have nothing I'd want. Can they even offer a first, I thought Phoenix owns thier pick this year if it's outside the top 5.

Pass, pass, and pass.

Is it known that Randle was offered? I am operating under the impression that LA wouldn't offer Randle for a rental of Monroe with no guarantees he'd re-sign. And Monroe wants to be a free agent and explore all options so he's not going to give any assurances of signing anywhere.

It's not wise to think we're trading Monroe or Jennings any time soon. But hey, I'm just a poster on RealGM man.

Randle is crud?

Yes. He only has one hand, terrible post game (Kentucky got better the less they posted him up as the season went on), no clue how to play team defense. He's basically a good rebounder and that's it. Now that he's injured I really don't want him at all.

Not even remotely interested in anything the Lakers have to offer, much less for Jennings/Monroe who have carried us through the past few games. Honestly, I think we have a really good shot at resigning Moose. And while Jennings may not be the PG of the future, he's still playing out of his mind and has great chemistry with this group. I don't see a reason to get rid of him for junk.

The only thing the Lakers have that could be considered remotely valuable is Randle and it's unlikely he's traded for Jennings or Monroe. Kilo is right in that their 2015 first round pick could be sent to Phoenix and thus can't be traded right now. Their 2017 first round pick might go to Orlando too so that's not an option nor is their 2016 first round pick because of the possibility of trading consecutive first round picks. The only realistic way a significant deal is happening with them is if the take back money for salary relief but that's probably not what Detroit is looking for right now. Not when they're winning games. Neither Van Gundy or Gores (especially the latter) will want to mess that up.

The Lakers could have made the Jennings and Monroe calls closer to 12/15 too. Who knows how relevant they are now.
