Given that Smith will probably be a solid bench player for the Rockets, why couldn't SVG do the same and have him come of the bench? Doesn't SVG deserve some of the blame regarding our poor start now that we know how bad Smith is as a starter?

Let's just not talk about Josh Smith... I hated watching him play.. Not sure he would have done anything bettter than what Jerebko brings us..

For us he was lazy ,boneheaded and he just didn't fit . Enuff said.

he experimented a ton and tried to find a way to make it work with josh smith on the court. you should find a way to play your highest paid player, after all...


he couldn't find one so he looked for a trade, when he couldn't find a trade he liked (or one at all?) he let him go.

The combination of money and most likely our young lockerroom kept him off the bench. Plus, SVG tried everything to make it work with him having a role and it didn't. What if SVG moved him to the bench and we didn't start winning games, what would have that done?
Maybe SVG wanted him to move the ball around more instead of stopping it but Smith was like "I'M OPEN *FIRE*!!!" In a perfect world, on a winning team, he is a nice role player on a good team.. in reality, it doesn't work that way. See how you said that he will "PROBABLY" be a solid bench player? He wasn't brought in to do that .

Let's ban his name from this forum.

I think Stan wanted to showcase him and then trade him, or at least give him a real chance to work out for us under Stan's system. Once it was obvious we couldn't trade him without giving assets and that he was ruining any chances of success, it was time to go.

He's now playing second fiddle to guys like harden and Howard. You really think he was gunna come off the bench and yield to Monroe and Drummond. Lol I highly doubt it. No matter what svg would have said I highly doubt he would have bought into that. Thus you cut him and be done with it. Pretty simple actually. All that said I garuntee we would not be playing this well with still on the team. On the bench or not. End of story.

He has an ego and would be further cancerous in the lockerroom and on court.

Shot 33% and took the most shots. When you look at his stats, they are nearly identical to his Pistons stats this year, yet slightly worse, and he's doing it in fewer minutes. And people are acting like he's been this incredible treasure for them.
