NBA Trade Rumors: Pistons linked to Mo Williams, Jonas Jerebko on the block According to KTSP's Darren Wolfson,
the Detroit Pistons are one of four teams interested in acquiring veteran Guard Mo Williams, although Motown has a "small chance" in the Williams sweepstakes,
Pistons, who are looking to unload a newly redundant Jerebko and bench-warming Luigi Datome, whilst the Wolves are listening to offers for Williams, and are looking to honor Chase Budinger's trade request. Budinger, a DBB favorite, has two years, $10 million remaining on his contract, including a player option for next season.
The 26 year-old former Arizona Wildcat shot 40.2% from deep during the 2011-2012 season prior to tearing his meniscus in 2013,
For the deal to work however, it would mean that the Pistons would have to give up a pick, or possibly Jonas Jerebko's expiring contract.

I'd be okay with absorbing Budinger to get Williams but I'd want to send back Butler instead of Jerebko, along with some filler, filler being Anthony or Datome/Martin.

Butler, Martin, Datome for Budinger and Mo Williams

We cut Martin's 1M deal off the books and keep Jerebko to back up PF with Tolliver and use his 6 fouls up come playoff time

However, giving up any kind of pick while taking back 4M in salary would be a very idiotic move for any GM

I say we throw a lottery protected 1st rounder and Jerebko for Harrison Barnes. I want a starting caliber SF and GS can't afford to keep him anyways.

I would like to take a swing at Barnes, but I think GS would be idiots to make any significant change to their lineup considering the success they've had this year.

Yeh Barnes is shooting 43% from 3PT and Kerr particularly likes him and has been working with him

Dont see us getting Barnes unless we take on Lee and maybe that still wont be enough

I'd say the chances of us doing anything major before the deadline are about 0.1%. We don't want to take on salary, give up picks, or give up our young talent. For those who have been calling on use to be more patient in rebuilding, this is what that looks like.

No way SVG takes back Budinger's carcass.

We're definitely more buyers than sellers, but within a very confined tolerance. I doubt we make any move that changes the outcome of the season. Jerebko isn't going to fetch you a difference maker.

IDK, we won't give up picks for some old has beens like Brooklyn or NY did. But I'm sure we would trade a pick if the right offer comes along for a prime talent. Not that I can think of anyone available or anything at the moment but you never know. There's usually always some sort of talent that gets traded out of nowhere come deadline time that nobody saw coming or even heard in rumors. Almost like when Utah traded DWill. That was a shocker out of nowhere and he was debatable as the best PG in the league at the time.

That is pretty much the only trade of that nature that has transpired over the last 8 years. Additionally, the Nets paid a small ransom for him, and look foolish for it at this point.

If I were GM, I'd be thinking of doing a trade if we added a piece to our long term core, or if we managed to increase future cap space, although that isn't as valuable as it once was with the impending cap increase.

Salaries for next year involving, IMHO, non-core players, although Meeks and Augustine could be considered on the fringe core. Meeks (6.3,6.5), Butler (4.5), Augustine (3.0), Gray? (1.3), Martin (1.2).

So only Meeks or Augustine would be of any value to any other team, maybe if they came down with an injury and working on the playoffs. So one of them, and then throw in another contract or two, and get an expiring in return? That's not likely to happen, but one of the few ways I'd imagine us doing a trade.

Butler is a team captain.

Yup. Doesn't mean he couldn't be traded, just not very likely.

Plus his contract isn't guaranteed next season. I'd be pleased if we kept JJ and instead dealt Gigi Martin and Joel for something.

I just don't see how we can get anything of value. Unless we're trading our draft picks, or Drummond, I don't think anyone is giving us anything.

This. SVG ain't gonna trade his biggest locker room supporter.

Playoffs are unlikely now. I doubt we make any move, unless we can land our long term SF.

"Right now, we're happy with what we have but you're always exploring trades," Van Gundy said Monday. "That's just being honest. Those guys know that and they know you're not being honest if you said anything else. You're always exploring what's out there. You've got to see what's possible. You've got to see what's possible, but there's nothing now, with John coming, specifically that we have to get done

A move does seem unlikely given the limited amount of trading chips SVG has, but that said, is he willing to make a big move if he finds the person he wants for his system? Absolutely. That's enough interest to keep me checking the rumors for the next nine days.

Pistons could still easily make the playoffs. Charlotte and Miami have been up and down, as Detroit has obviously, that's there no way to know how these teams will go for 33 games.

We have no real assets to offer, particularly not if we're unwilling to take on bad contracts.

We aren't trading our first rounder, nor are we dealing Drummond. And frankly those are the pieces we have that carry serious trade value. I suppose Pope might also have halfway decent value, but a trade there is unlikely too since our already thin perimeter rotation can't afford another subtraction.

A very minor trade is possible, but a game changer is not.
