I've had a lot of success finding cheap lower bowl tickets on stubhub the past couple years. It might not be as easy to go that route now that our team and fans have a pulse again... I also don't live in the area anymore, so can't speak too much on what the demand is like. Definitely check stubhub before you go though, especially if you are just gonna buy at the door anyways.

Stub hub is definitely the best spot I've used. you can usually get pretty cheap lower bowl tickets on there.

Ive used craigslist and found killer deals.Obviously anyone using CL should be careful, but if you know what to look for,its not hard.Ive bought at least a dozen tickets off there in my life and have never been cheated.Usually 4-6 hrs befor the game people will go on there to un-load there good tickets because they get desperate and wanna make sure they get something for them.If your not to familar with craigslist, stub hub would be my second choice.Have fun,my kids love it when they parachute the hungry howies from the rafters, really is pretty cool.

Not sure up in Detroit, but I get the best seats at the cheapest prices from Scalpers believe it or not. I do it often enough and recognize the same guys out there. Because, I usually decide to go to games last minute often. What I do is go out to happy hour for a few beers and walk to the stadium about 5 minutes before game time. Usually, there are hardly anyone left for scalpers to sell their tickets to and last game I went to, I got 7th row behind the bench for $100 for (2) Tickets. $50 bucks a peace for me and my friend. The scalper I look for will walk with me to the entrance and wait until the lady scans my ticket to show he ain't scamming me.

I think this might be difficult at the Palace. First since the stadium is not downtown, there's really not a whole lot around it, which means not a lot of foot traffic, so I wouldn't expect to see many scalpers. Second, since the parking lot is on the premises of The Palace, once you've gone in and paid for parking you've pretty much committed to going to the game (unless you park across the street and make a mad dash across lapeer... again probably not much scalper market tho). I can't really remember seeing many scalpers ever inside the stadium parking lot or near the doors of the stadium.

Stubhub is awesome. The Pistons tunnel is between sections 108 and 109.
