Goran wants out and has a shortlist? Any chance we're possibly on it?

SVG isn't incredibly easy to predict but, I wonder if he's interested and what would that deal look like.

Lakers blabbing about throwing him 20 mil per kinda scares me off. I think he's definitely anticipating some huge contract now that would be pretty uncomfortable to match. He's definitely a very good player and was an All NBA and probably top 5 PG in the league last season but he's also almost 30 and about to get maxed. We should probably just stay out of this one.

When Drummond enters his prime Dragic will be 36yrs old and on the contract after next.

I know this absolutely doesn't concern us, as there's no way the Pistons are on Dragic's "short list." But was I the only person who was kinda off put by this quote? From USA Today (via HoopsHype) —

The main issue, according to one of the people, is that Dragic wants to run his own team with the kind of freedom and support given to someone like Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The decrease in production this season, as he sees it, is directly tied to the decrease in time spent as the lead-guard with the host of ballhandlers that surround him. Dragic is averaging 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 33.4 minutes per game this season.

Seeing as bottom-feeding teams like the Lakers and Knicks are reportedly high on his list, this kinda makes it look like Dragic prioritizes "getting his" above all else. It also kinda makes him seem like a prima donna; it's one thing to want to play your natural position and be used to best maximize your talents, but it's another to say you want to "run your OWN team with the freedom and support" given to the current MVP-frontrunner. Of course, this isn't a direct quote from Dragic, so it's possible the writer did a poor job and misrepresented or over-stated his feelings.

They have 3 legit starting PG's on their team. Dragic is a game changing pg and Suns would be better off letting him run the team on the court. He would be perfect what the type of PG SVG wants. He won't sign a extention here though

The reason I said "could we possibly be on the list" is because we're currently playing a system where a PG can dominate the ball, put up ridiculous numbers, and win enough to threaten for the playoffs.

Goran is hard to gauge because if he wants "Stephen Curry like freedom and support" then playing with Kobe, Carmelo, Wade/Bosh, or Paul George when he comes back, won't give him that (Yeah, Indiana might be on the list... haven't seen it confirmed though).

Main problems with Goran though,
1) He's a lot closer to 30 than I would like. (Turns 29 in May)
2) Expensive... (assuming he re-signs, but I doubt we'd pull the trigger otherwise)

Maybe/Maybe not...
I guess we'll keep our fingers crossed BJen makes a full recovery and plays at the same level when we were winning.

If he was just complaining about him not getting enough touches, I'd agree. I don't think that is the issue though. Phoenix went and got 2 other pg's that he has to split minutes and ball handling duties with. He just wants a normal pg role. The teams he's supposedly interested in already have #1 scorers, and I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to know that Kobe won't be deferring to him.

And I guess LA and NY are bottom feeders, but they are the 2 biggest markets. Everyone wants to play there because they will make tons of money on endorsements etc. They also are in desperate need of pg help at the moment and have deep pockets for free agent spending.

There's not a lot of attractive FAs this summer, there's a lot of teams with cap space and teams aren't going to be afraid to spend with the cap about to get jacked up. Dragic is going to get a stupid offer and it's not like he's a RFA so his Bird rights would matter little to a team under the cap like we are set up to be.

SVG doesn't need a star PG, anyone can put up good numbers in his system. As such, we should probably find a good defender at the position to maximize +/-(in theory? lol).

There is no need to find a PG next yr or one who will reach his prime with Drummond in the near future. We have several yrs to build a contender. Our best players cant legally drink yet. What Im against is signing a Max FA when his contract will be up just when we are ready to end the rebuild. 2018 and 2019 are the yrs to add the final pieces not 2015.
