He found out nobody wanted him for the stretch run. He's been irrelevant for 6 years

This is about as accurate as it gets. Rip didn't decide to retire, he just finally realized nobody is calling him back.

I don't want him anywhere near KCP, he's not the mentoring type.

Eh, I still got love for him. Wasn't always perfect, but some damn good years here. Wish him the best in his post-playing career.

I guess but it would be cool if he was that type.

I just remember how he acted once things started to go downhill

He wasn't already retired?

Honestly, screw that guy. I've got love for all of the other major players on the teams in that era, but not him. Things just got too nasty with him, posting about how thrilled he was to be bought out, and even congratulating Ben Gordon for getting traded to the Bobcats after their worst season ever.

I love me some RIP Hamilton, I could watch him run around screens for days.

Rip can eat a bag of richards.

I agree with Snakebites... I have love for every member of the championship team except Hamilton.

I have love for him because he was also a big part of our championship runs,I wont judge to harshly on the guy,he did go thru alot throughout the down years.I remember him being really put off with det when billups was traded and then lost faith in the front office (which we can all relate to).

He did so much for the franchise, but then he was such a b**** towards the end of his detroit career. It was such a shame he went out like that.

Except he signed the extension AFTER Chauncey got dealt. If he had a real problem with the move he could have played it out and hit FA. He didn't have a problem when he was negotiating then went into b**** mode as soon as the ink was dry.

There's a reason guys like Ben, Chauncey and Tayshaun were brought back (even Sheed as a coach) and Rip never was. It's got nothing to do with the franchise.

Could be mistaken but I thought Chauncey was traded a week or 2 after Rip signed.

I mean, the carousel of terribad coaches didn't help the situation and we were no longer contenders then while breaking apart the core in a underwhelming way. I have both love and hate for him.

Perfect example of how NOT to leave the Pistons.

Keep it classy RIP....oh wait.

He signed the extension later in the same day but there are conflicting stories on what he knew when he signed the deal.

He thinks he's a pretty boy, and those fur coats he wore after he got his ring were ridiculous. The guy is just a douchebag.

Ben was the heart, Chauncey the leader, Sheed the energy, and Tay the glue. Rip was the guy other people created for and other people covered for on defense. He was the worst defender of the starters and not a good ball handler for a 2 to the point that Tayshaun was the secondary ball handler. All Rip had was endless energy and a good mid-range jumper. I appreciate his contributions, but he was replaceable much more easily than anyone except MAYBE Tay.

And he's still a douchebag.
