I read that last night. Doesn't really say much but if Stan really wants him back and wants to pay him a kings ransom then he will be back I'm sure.

Eh, doesn't really shed light on what he's going to do other than he's "exploring" options, which confirmed that when he signed the QO this off-season. Nothing entirely new.

He's out of here. Favors, Hayward, Wall, Bledsoe, etc have all started their eight figure deals. Meanwhile, Monroe takes a 5.4 million dollar deal with no further guarantees just so he can 'explore his options?' Only to return to Detroit?

Sorry, doesn't pass the smell test. Falk's doing his job, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think it is a done deal yet. And weird things happen during free agency - some deals never materialize, some teams blow their money on the wrong guys and some free agents are left hanging after all the cap space is spent.

So which teams have cap space? Who are their targets? And as always, the top free agents hold up everything, and until they sign, the next tier is waiting. But obviously Monroe and Falk are smart and they will say the right things. They probably have a short list of teams that Monroe can start at center with. But if those teams don't pan out, we may be the only ones willing to give him the max, so he will likely come back.

I'd say we're not his top choice, but we are certainly on his list.

Doesn't reveal much, but I think he will consider the Pistons if they give him a big offer. He felt like he could get more on the open market, so he took the QO, and I think he's proved that this season. I also think he has to be encouraged by SVG, both as a coach and an exec. The Pistons have to seem like a drastically more attractive situation with SVG as coach, Smith gone, no bad contracts, and young emerging players like KCP, Dre, and hopefully Reggie. I'll say it's more likely that he stays now, than it was when he signed the QO.

Bet he will see if he can get a 15-16M per year deal from the Lakers/Knicks. If not I could see him signing for the same amount and staying.

I think him taking the QO had more to do with the situation than with money. He obviously didn't want to be a backup to Smith and an afterthought on offense. Since we dumped Smith, he's become much more of a focal point and he's playing the best ball of his carrier. He's now in a position to be both successful both individually and as a team. That is a pretty dramatic change from what he was seeing this summer. Obviously, he could still choose to leave, but the team has really addressed everything it can and made this a much more appealing destination than it was 6 months ago.

I don't think having two max-type big men, then only playing one in crunch time makes much sense from either perspective. SVG likes four out - his actions have shown that all season. A Harris/Anderson forward combo is much more sensible than Drumroe under SVG.

Again, Monroe valued the opportunity to get out of here over 50+ million dollars guaranteed. I only hope it's a sign and trade as opposed to losing him for nothing. That would be such an unfortunate waste of a good asset.

Overall seems like a very cold interview from someone who's most likely on his way out but knows that leverage (not to mention the well being of the remaining part of the season) will be lost if that fact is too well known.

Its still possible, of course, that we attain him, but nothing from what was said there by his agent gives any reason for optimism.

Right, to me that reads as "we've both played out public roles right". I.E. Monroe has not been a public malcontent or demanded to be traded/cut loose, and SVG has not buried Moose on the bench or spoken negatively about the process to the media. The latter could just as easily be out of a desire not to leave a bad impression with future FA prospects, just as easily as it could be to actually try and retain Moose.

He's got 90 million reason's to stay, and/or $90 million reasons to find us a good s&T. if i understand the cba correctly

I love Moose yet unfortunately I think he's gone. He's a centre, do we give big money to two players who play the same position? He's just not quick enough to defend most fours and I think there are more athletic fours than not these days. With Drummond progressing nicely offensively I don't think we'll miss him as much as we would have previously. The hardest part will be finding a quality backup centre.

I hope we can at least get Anderson for him. Monroe and Davis is almost a perfect pairing.

Think he'll push hard for a S&T... same money better situation for him (N.O. or bigger endorsement markets).

idk why i get this impression, but i do feel like Moose is the type to go back to his hometown and try to win a championship in front of his home crowd. hopefully for Ryan anderson+1st rounder coming back.

A starting lineup of Jackson or Jennings/KCP/Evans/Anderson/ Drummound would be interesting to see out on the court IMO.

A trade of Greg Monroe-for-Ryan Anderson makes sense for both teams imo. You can then let Reggie Jackson walk and still have space to offer Draymond Green a contract. SVG can go to war with a starting lineup of Jennings/KCP/Green/Anderson/Drummond. Still hope your team can check what a Drummond/Monroe frontcourt does in the playoffs though before making any decision though.
