Tay: "we don't talk defensively, and therefore, there's a lot of breakdowns"

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Mon Mar 9, 2015 11:51 pm

Pistons small forward Tayshaun Prince said Sunday that the team's biggest problem has been that "we don't talk defensively, and therefore, there's a lot of breakdowns," MLive.com reports.

"It was a similar situation in Boston -- we're a real quiet team, and just not speaking out enough and being early talkative," Prince said. "This is a similar situation. We just haven't communicated on the defensive end when teams sparked the run. That's when you have to be loud and aggressive, at that opportune time, and we haven't been, at all."

Prince said that some of the breakdowns were due to chemistry, an element that disappeared at the trading deadline.

"It's a tough situation but there's still no excuse for not bringing the energy," Prince said. "Whether the talk is not there, or the communication is not there, we've still got to play at a high level."

Tay should step up and talk, hes the vet, has great IQ and still a good defender. He should step into this role if he thinks its an area of concern.

This is true. Stan probably thought Tayshaun would bring some of this. He was wrong. He's a professional, but not a leader.

Tayshaun's attitude has always been terrible from 2006 onward

He pouts and complains during games you can see it on his face esp if someone makes a dumb mistake or takes a bad shot. Then after the game he makes stupid comments to the media as he feels entitled because he won a championship.

Rip and Tayshaun's garbage is one of the reasons that our rebuilding process went from bad to disastrous.

agree, Draymond already is a great leader despite being relatively young. While a PG usually dictates the offense, we really need a defensiv coordinator in the starting lineup, neither Dre or Monroe are that.

The problem is that all we've read is that Golden State plans to match any offer Green receives.

I'm not saying Detroit (if interested) shouldn't offer him a contract, but that it's unlikely that GS doesn't match. But, I agree, Green's defensive prowess and personality would be an overall positive thing for the Pistons.

You may be right sadly. Would be a shame if they did, he embodies everything about what it should mean to be a Piston and would undoubtedly help change our team culture a bit.

Him and Drummond would make a mean front court with whomever they find to play the 3, whether through the draft or free agency.

I'd be stunned if Draymond ended up here. I'm not sure he's worth the money he'll probably get, but it's nice to know that there's at least one good player who has said he would like to play here. I think playing for a team you want to play for goes a long way.

It has a lot to do with his Michigan ties. He apparently still spends the off-season in Saginaw, opposed to flocking to LA like a lot of players. I'd like to see him here, definitely. Is he worth a max contract? I'd say no, but the market will definitely prove otherwise.

Why couldn't LeBron been born in Michigan? We'd be set.
