Dinwiddie over KCP as a SG?

Post#1 » by pistontr » Wed Mar 11, 2015 5:23 pm

KCP is a role player, he can not creat and dribble. We need another creator in the line up. Dinwiddie has size and ability to play SG. What do you think?

No way. I love Dinwiddie, but his shooting hasn't arrived at the NBA-level yet. KCP is only in his 2nd year and has shown lots of improvement. His shooting percentages just took a nosedive in the last week, but I definitely don't see Dinwiddie providing more then KCP after learning the PG position all year.

Personally I'm expecting more improvement in KCP's 3rd year.

As a starter? No.

We do need to mix it up though. Tay has shown he's not a good fit. I'd like to see more of the KCP/Meeks combo and that would free up some minutes for dinwiddie at the 2. We need some better ball handling in that second unit, especially when tolliver and dre are out there together.

Yeah, this franchise's track record is absolutely laughable in the recent years. So no, let's please not do this again.

Also, we need to run the Meeks at SG and KCP at SF lineups more. That was the only way we stayed competitive last night. Tayshaun is done and SVG hates Butler for some reason.

When you see it all spelled out in on list it's really depressing.

My day is now ruined, thanks for that.

Dinwiddie would lose his size advantage at SG and he's not shooting well. Probably wouldn't work too well.

KCP will at least play great D despite his inconsistent shooting. It would be nice if he could provide some spacing. Reggie and Monroe would look so much better.

This is crazy. A guy shooting like 24% from 3 to start over a guy that averaged 17-19 in 1 month (can't remember the month).

If it was Dinwiddie over Jackson maybe, but still probably not

Someone brought up a great point (I can't remember where) but after trading Singler and Augustine, hes literally the only guy defenses have to account for on the perimeter. I definitely think that's part of the reason hes struggling so much.

But I don't even agree that Dinwiddie can create his own shot better than KCP. There's very few people KCP can't at least get a shot off over do to the tremendous elevation on his jumper.

I'd be more interested in moving Prince to the bench at this stage honestly. He's too slow and kills our offensive flow most times that he gets the ball. Let KCP stay in the starting line-up, it'll teach him to fight through this shooting slump.

1.) NOOOOOOOOOOOO......simply because that mean JL3 would be playing
2.) I like the idea of having to creators on offense, but defensively KCP will be missed

Agreed, once Butler was put into the starting lineup it might have been a better idea to just keep him in there. He's for sure the better 3pt shooter and already has better chemistry and understanding of what SVG wants. Oh well, I guess.
Just like the people who wanted to start Dinwiddie over Jennings, this would be a poor decision. He's a second round draft pick rookie. Yes, he has played a couple good games. He has also played some awful games. I think playing him over KCP would be a real mistake.

Same could easily be said for KCP.

I would try running Dinwiddie at the 2 with a lineup for a stretch, because as a shooter and secondary facilitator he would be good there for offensive flow. Can't start him over KCP though, more than anything because these players are human beings. Dinwiddie has flashed some great moments but nothing to just send KCP to the bench, or even Meeks for that matter. You have to play significantly better than somebody to just take their minutes. Either Meeks or KCP would be losing minutes to John Lucas III too. Don't want him on the floor ever.

Hopefully if we have RJ (for the low), BJ, and Dinwiddie next year we can swap minutes at the 2 between KCP & Dinwiddie. Having a guy like Spencer able to run P&R well from the 2 and shoot a solid percentage from deep would be excellent for the offense. Holding up defensively and whether or not he can start hitting those 3's at a solid clip (has the touch but hasn't yet) would be the only questions.
