I haven't seen much of Winslow but I really like Johnson. He is just a winner and would be a great fit on this team imo.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
I like Johnson more, he looks huge out there. He can attack the rack, isn't he a better FT shooter (?), and I thought I just checked yesterday that he was a 36% 3pt shooter on like 3 attempts per game. So, I think he might even be able to develop a reliable 3pt shot. I like him a bunch. For Detroit's big board, I would put him #2 behind KAT.
I wish Arizona and Duke somehow ended up in the same bracket, that way we could have seen them play each other in the elite-8. That would have been awesome.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
Winslow is a very impressive player when you watch him. He's got a very high motor and is a great defender, He reminds me of MKG so much. Johnson shares a lot of those traits but he doesn't look as hyper active as Winslow does but when you look at him he just fits the bill for what you would want your SF to look like. The kid is built like a brick house. I would be pretty happy wit either one but if I had to pick I guess I would take Johnson. Johnson to me has more upside offensively and is already a good defender himself.

I think people need to take a step back from being married to the idea of needing a "3" in this draft. KAT, Johnson, Muiday, Russell would all be great gets for us, we really need to drop into the 5th spot if the lotto, I worry at our current spot (or if we get jumped) we'll end up a spot or two too late.
Right now we are just Drummond and a whole bunch of question marks. We need to add young talent that fits around Drummond. Anyone who thinks we can just draft one of the "3"s this year and roll into the playoffs with Drummond / Monroe / rookie / KCP / Jackson is dilusional.

No one said we will make the playoffs with this pick we got cap space for that but if we stay at 7 or 8 we will take a sf unless u wanna watch prince and butler again even if svg get a sf with the cap space we still need a backup which will be our rookie

Two years down the road (Bare minimum roster movement version):
Jennings / Dinwiddie
KCP / Meeks
Johnson / Miller
Monroe / Tolliver
Drummond / Sabonis

That's what kills me about the whole PG situation if we knew that Jennings could make it back to the level he was playing at, I'd absolutely take him over any of the other realistic options...I really like that roster.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
Stan has been my guy since day 1 and I'm sticking with him..if we're choosing with all the SFs on the board.
That said I do like Winslow as well and would not be upset with him.

Winslow is more athletic, a much better defender, a better 3pt shooter and better ball handler/passer. Johnson is stronger, better at getting to the FT line and better at hitting midrange jumpers.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
I like Winslow but his size is only elite for SG's. Johnson has elite size for an SF.
They are both good, but I don't see how Johnson can fail. His extra size and strength and better jumpshot and freethrow shooting skill gives him a higher floor.
Plus you've gotta admit that players who depend more on quickness and athleticsm tend to get injured more than those who depend on natural size and length.
If your talking long term I actually think Oubre should still be in the conversation... he has the best natural shot and length. Looking at how Gobert just changed Utah and the power balance of the whole Western conference by himself is a reminder of how far wingspan goes in the NBA

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Agreed. A lotto team without a single all star caliber player should go into the draft with the goal of improving the team as much as possible long-term, not to fill one specific position.
As far as the question goes, from the little I've seen on Winslow I've been impressed with his motor for sure. Haven't seen Johnson at all...for anyone who follows college basketball closely, who do you think has the higher ceiling and what are the floor/ceiling comparisons for them? NBAdraft.net compares Stanley to Ron Artest and Winslow to Wilson Chandler. Are those accurate at all?

I'm not the best with comparisons but Winslow just seems identical to MKG with that motor. He's constantly attacking the paint for buckets, Rebounds, lobs and blocks. He's shown to be more promising 3 point shooter though. I like the Artest type of comparison for Johnson. He's succeeds a lot off of his size and physical play on both sides. He shows great awareness already on the defensive side of the ball. One thing I've noticed though is he's not your pure shooting looking type of Wing, His shot is very flat looking. Oubre and Hezonja show more of that sweet looking shooting stroke.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
I guess that I'm nearly alone in preferring Winslow. He's playing excellent defense on a team where defense has been optional for a while now (Okafor and Paker have the athletic ability to play good defense but are allowed to play poor defense) while Johnson was benched for not playing hard enough against Utah.
Who do you want, the guy self-motivated enough to do things the right way even though he doesn't have to, or the guy who needed to be benched to play harder?

No you aren't, you, Motown and me all feel the same. We already have a wing that can't handle the ball in KCP, I don't think we need another in Johnson, which is yet another reason why I think Winslow > Johnson.

Re: Winslow vs Johnson
MKG shot 25% on 3point attempts at Kentucky on 1 attempt a game
Winslow is shooting 40% on 3point attempts at Duke on 3 attempts a game.
MKG and Winslow can be compared defensively but offensively Justise has shown more than MKG ever has.

Yeah but he thrives in a lot of the same ways MKG did while in college. That 3 point shot has just been a added luxury. But it's hardly what he specializes in. He thrives as a slasher and making constant hustle plays in the paint and in transition.
