Obviously SF is our biggest need and we can either address it in the draft or F/A. Not to be ignored is PF as well, especially if Moose bolts or we move in a different direction. Our course of action will most likely be to address one need in F/A and the other in the draft. With the options listed below what path would you guys take and why?

DRAFT:

SF's - Justice Winslow, Mario Hezonja, Stanley Johnso, Kelly Oubre, Malik Pope or Sam Dekker

PF's - Karl-Anthony Towns, Frank Kaminsky, Kristaps Porzingis, Kevon Looney, Myles Turner, Bobby Portis or Trey Lyles

FREE AGENCY:

SF's - Kawhi Leonard (Most likely matched by Spurs), Khris Middleton, Jeff Green, Tobias Harris or DeMarre Carroll

PF's - Moose, Paul Millsap, Thaddeous Young or Amir Johnson

I think Towns is the best player in the draft so I would vote we snag him if we can and then address SF in free agency offering Leonard the max. If Leonard falls through we go after Middleton or Carroll to be that 3-D SF we need.

If Moose doesn't come back (which I'm strongly of the opinion that he will not), SVG is going to get a PF that can shoot the 3 with some level of consistency. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered Draymond Green a significant contract, or possibly Tobias Harris or Thad Young.

As for small forward, the free agency pool is pretty weak there. Harris and Young are kind of tweener forwards that could again be very interesting to SVG.

With the draft, I believe you have to take the BPA when you're drafting in the top 10. You can't pass on a better prospect due to fit. So, we'll have to see where the chips fall on that in June.

Draft is always BPA. Unless we win the lottery, that is probably going to be one of the SF's. I expect them to try to bring Moose back, but if that falls though, I would expect SVG to go with more of a "value" pickup like Thad Young rather than overbid on a RFA.

I wouldn't call thad young a tweener, he plays almost exclusively PF. since 2012 he's played more center than small forward (but not very much of either).


I'd love to get thad young, but he'd have to decline his ~$10 million player option next year or we'd have to trade for him, which is risky because he'd only have one year left on his contract. if he did pick up his option though, Brooklyn might be willing to trade him to shed some cap.
