Hypothetical draft scenario #3 pick

Hello all
Something I've been thinking about recently, which I know is purely hypothetical albeit slightly possible, what would we do if we won the 3rd pick in the draft with the rest of the order staying the same? To make it interesting, state what your plan in this circumstance, and also what you believe SVG would do. For arguments sake let's assume KAT & Okafur are off the board and the pistons are on the clock.
I personally would try and leverage Philly for some form of asset, to receive the 4th pick and select Justise Winslow.
I think SVG would stay at #3 and take Winslow in this situation.

Take Russel, he has star potential at pg and SG. He also would be insurance if KCP doesn't progress next year.
Definitely wouldn't trade him if he is their. Would trade Mudiay tho to the 6ers if they aren't the ones ahead of us.

If we're third and the two bigs are gone, we work the phones HARD. My choice would be Winslow if forced to just pick, but Russell and Mudiay are talented and coveted, so ending up with any of those guys is a big plus, just not the best fit.

SVG values PG's and centers, everyone else is a compliment

Swing for the fences and draft Russell and hope everything works out despite the fact we have KCP and or RJ.
Russell's shooting alone will make him stay in the league for a long time. The fact that he can pass the rock and has ball handling for days, solidifies he'll likely be a great player.

I'm a Russell homer so I have him at #3. He's got great size, can shoot, can handle the ball and threw some sick passes this year. I know we are loaded up in the backcourt already, but I'd take Russell long term over both Jackson and Jennings.
Now, if Philly is willing to open up their warchest and send us that Lakers first or something equivalent to move up 1 spot, I'd do that and likely take Winslow. Muiday is interesting, but I really haven't seen him play much, especially not compared to guys like Russell and Winslow.
Seems like there's a pretty clear top 5 this year and a few guys knocking on the door of that tier. Realistically, as long as Cauley-Stein goes before us (or if someone like Myles Turner jumps up), not tanking didn't really hurt us too bad as we are still worst case likely looking at one of Hezonja, Stanley Johnson or Oubre.

If we're determined to draft a three, I wouldn't do it there. I'd trade down. If we use the pick, Russell.

I'm not so sold on Russell as others are, probably because the most I watched of him is when he lost in NCAA he didn't seem to be that effective. If we can get a significant asset and drop a couple of spots, I'd do that knowing we could land Winslow or Porszingis. Otherwise, I would just take Winslow at #3.

I'd stop overthinking it and exaggerating the leverage of the third pick (which isn't that high) and take wither Winslow or Russell.

I agree. I'm admittedly biased, but the only other game of his I watched besides the tourney loss was against Michigan, and Spike Albrecht outplayed him. Small sample size, and obviously not that indicative, but it sticks out in my mind.
I would take Winslow/trade down

Take Russell and be happy that you have what may eventually become the 2nd best backcourt in the league behind Curry/Klay.

That is a big assumption. And Wall/Beal might disagree with your assessment as well. And Westbrook and any warm body.

Is anyone in this draft a sure thing? I don't think you've got a guaranteed starter whether you're picking #1 or #60. I like Winslow, mostly because of his physical attributes, winnings attitude and a game that will translate to today's NBA well- he shoots 3, layups and free throws.
Russell's athleticism should give more people pause. But, great shooting is always in high demand.
