RFA's K. Leonard, J. Butler, D. Green, T. Harris all going to be max-matched

Word is, the teams of these respective RFA's will be matching whatever offers are made, no matter what.

Middleton might be our top FA option.

And I know he's 30. But it doesn't look like there's going to be a lot of stretch-4 options out there. Do we consider Paul Millsap?

I'd like to sign Danny Green as well, honestly.

C: Drummond, ???
PF: Millsap, Tolliver
SF: Middleton, KCP, Martin(?)
SG: Green, Meeks
PG: Jackson, Jennings, Dinwiddie

Only one I'd be skeptical of would be Orlando matching any offer to Toby Harris.

Why would Milsap leave Atlanta?

I don't think Harris is a lock in Orlando. The rest are a mortal lock though, we can forget about them.

A stretch 4 isn't imperative, just preferred. If SVG really wants one, they could probably trade for Ryan Anderson relatively cheap. Or, pick up a bargain bin shooter like Bargnani. This team isn't going to be competing for a title next year, so having our long term player at every position isn't absolutely necessary.

It's a weak free agent class unless you can attract the big names. But, I don't think Detroit will have enough to through a max contract at a veteran player.

I heard Harris might be going to the Knicks.

I could see Orlando wanting to keep Harris pretty badly. They really need his offense and he's only going to be 23 next season. Harris and Gordon make an interesting and interchangeable forward pairing too.

But yeah, I would be pretty surprised if any of those guys change teams. Tristan Thompson and Enes Kanter are probably the only significant restricted free agents that other teams have any chance at.

I think SVG is smart enough to know we are not going to win a championship next year. If we sign RJ and a good draft pick, that's a good start. But I don't think we will blow huge money on a SF or PF unless we know they are a long term building block. Otherwise a cheaper temporary option will be the approach.

If Orlando is willing to keep Tobias at any offer, I wonder if it means they're leaning towards maybe drafting Willie Cauley Stein.

Harris and Gordon the 3/4's and WCS a 4/5 with Willie a very good fit next to Vuc as well, or spelling him in back-up minutes. With Oladipo, Payton, Harris and Vuc, they could easily "survive" with Stein's lack of offense.

I'll just die if we max out Khris Middleton when he was a Joe Dumars throwaway.

We would have to max him to keep him even if he was still with us so what's your point?

Ah well they're all gonna be matched by their team... might as well stick our head in the sand and give up... no hope whatsoever
And while we're at it a stretch 4 can only be called stretch if he can shoot 50% from 40'
And don't be calling anyone a Max player... his name is obviously not Max
And please no more damn threads that repeat anything.
Goodnight you luvable bastards... but some of us aren't bast... never mind :clown:

I'm pretty sure Lebron stands to profit off Thompson's deal as an owner of LRMR (Thompson's agent). GM Lebron will max him out. It seems to be a violation of the CBA that a player can profit off another player's deal (getting paid twice by the same team), but I don't think the CBA applies to Lebron.

Orlando desperately needs rim protection. I know everyone is giving them Winslow, but keeping Harris along with Gordon should cover their 3, they need someone who can stop other teams from running layup lines.

I think we'll make a play for Draymond, given his ties to the area and our team needs it makes too much sense.

Otherwise I think you are right, people need to end the idea of cap space being a major asset now. Cap space was huge 5-10 years ago when you had guys like Raef Lafrentz, Rashard Lewis, Gil Arenas and Eric Dampier clogging caps with stupid long term deals. The new CBA cut out those 6-7 year deals where guys were anchors by the end and teams have gotten smarter, the amount of teams with cap space has drastically increased. Stan might target an under the radar young guy like KJ McDaniels, but otherwise I think we'll see a lot of what he did last year when he brought in smart vets who are helping to change the culture and fit his style.

I forgot that KJ will be a RFA this summer. He mostly played SG for Philly, and has been glued to the pine in Houston. I wonder if he has the size to play SF? Even then, he's a risk, as you'd have to pay enough that Houston deems him not worth the contract and he's a largely unknown quantity.

- he's an unrestricted free agent this offseason (rookies have to play at least three years with a team to become restricted in free agency). he signed a one-year deal with philly instead of the usual three-year deal second round rookies take so he could control his fate early on in his career.
- he played mostly SG for philly but I suspect that had more to do with their personnel than KJ. he played SF in college and has enough size/athleticism for SF in the nba at 6'6 with a wingspan of almost 7'0.

he's definitely on my wish list of low-profile free agent signings for us this offseason.

I don't think we can make a play for Draymond without first renouncing rights to Monroe. If we keep Tolliver and Butler's TO's we only have like $7M to play with. So unless Moose signs elsewhere quick in the process, we'd have to wait on him or make the first move and cut ties with him and lose his Bird Rights.

As for the "hitting singles again" we don't have much open roster space, and I think this team needs continuity after such a season of turn over/upheaval. I'd look to bring back Joel Anthony, Caron Butler, Anthony Tolliver. JLIII can go because we have 3 PG's coming back with Jennings healthy. Prince can go, as can Shawne Williams. I guess that would be four roster spots open - two would be filled with draft picks though and if we draft a SF in the first we'll NEED to replace Monroe somehow with another roster spot (and vice versa if we draft a big, we need a starting SF somehow in FA). The 15th roster spot could be left open to start the season as well.

I believe if we pick up Butlers Team Option, it will cost us 4.5mill, i'm not sure he is worth that much
