I love the term "playmaking 4" and the comments on the slowly dying utility of the "stretch 4". Greg Monroe is a 5, but he was a playmaking 4 for us. We'll miss him, of course. Just wish he'd found a mid-range jumper.

I'm baffled, Greg never shot alot of the mid-range jumpers. Some he shot would swish and look pretty decent, he just seemed scared or something.

I'm very scared but also intrigued by Kaminsky. I think he could be a bust, or potentially could thrive in SVG's system.

Unless he signs for what he's actually worth, or developed an actual jumper, then yeah, he's gone.

If he ends up on the knicks, oh boy is that team going to be bad defensivly. One thing about greg, that doesn't get talked about enough, is his defense. He's a hell of a rebounder, but his pick and roll defense was an atrocitie. Just having a good defender playing alongside drummond is going to help tremendously.

Slow release on his shot and has a weak, narrow base, making it tough for him to get to the basket against guys with decent base strength. RHJ was smothering him in the post because he doesn't have the strength to establish deep position and back guys down.

Larry Nance Jr. from this draft is exactly who this article is talking about though, excellent finisher, very strong, decent 3 point shot, good passing. No idea why he isn't projected to go higher in the draft, this guy can contribute.

Trey Lyles is another guy like this, although he's a bit of a liability on defense.

Honestly, he's a beautiful fit on offense and I'd love to see him go to work in the post surrounded by shooters like Carmelo and Hardaway. He's an excellent passer and your offense would finally look nice and really be humming. That said you'll want a shot-blocker. You guys should just draft WCS to pair with him, it'd be perfect. WCS is Tyson Chandler on offense, centers can't help off of him because he's such a threat for an alley-oop or offensive rebound. On defense, WCS is such a freak that he could cover anybody, 1-5, help and recover in time to block shots, blitz pick and rolls, harass ballhandlers, and generally do his best KG impersonation. Just put shooters at the guard spots and you could win some games.

General consensus is that he's gone. We don't really talk about where he's going to go though.

With the Lakers likely drafting Okafor I'd say the Knicks are a fairly likely destination.

Kaminsky's release isn't slow enough to be much of a negative when he can do other things with the ball besides shoot it. I'd agree if his only/main value on offense was spotting up but that's not the case. Kaminsky does have to put some work into this physique though. Getting into a NBA conditioning program is going to be a big positive for him and a lot of other prospects. He might never be a go-to post scorer but Kaminsky has good enough fundamentals, footwork, and touch to make that part of his game a respectable threat in my opinion.

We're going to miss Monroe's abilities, for sure. I wish he took that midrange far more than his post play, but he doesn't have confidence for whatever reason.

I was actually thinking today, if it is just between us and NY what does Moose do? I'm guessing we strike out on a big $ guy in fa, not sure SVG will let a 24 year old big man just walk away.

Monroe had nice form, but it was like he played to his strengths to a fault.
he never seemed all that comfortable with his jumper, but that should have been his number one priority each offseason. His post game combined with a consistent, comfortable jump shot would be amazing.

I still hope he stays even though he won't.

Personally I think we're at least on the short list of all the teams Monroe wants to be a part of. We at least showed the most promise out of any of the years he was a part of especially during Jennings having a career stretch and chemistry was sky high.

I don't think Stan wants to let him go easily either.
