Monroe, who is from New Orleans, seems like the perfect fit next to Davis, allowing Davis to guard weaker PF while Monroe camps out down low where he is best, playing center full time.

If anything Monroe >> Anderson and Detroit would be the one asking for more since the Pelicans can't sign Monroe outright as they have no space.

JVG would probably push for this deal as well, a core of Holiday/Reke/Davis/Monroe + whoever they can sign when Gordon expires is a mighty nice team to inherit

Ryan Anderson isn't as good as you think he is -- he'll make us wish for Monroe's defense back -- but it's better than nothing if they can make it work.

Question is,can he stay healthy and start next to dre for a full season ? Thats the only thing that worries me about him.

I think he can stay healthy for a season and if he cant he expires.

We have paid big money for veteran bench guys in the past (see last year Caron Butler + Cartier Martin = 5.5M) so what's a few more million for a quality big who can shoot

Who knows maybe he will like playing under SVG and next to Dre and will resign for a discount after his contract is up

I think SVG wants to get something of value for Monroe rather then letting him walk for nothing. Besides New Orleans I cant see any other team (without the cap space to sign Moose outright) that could give us a piece that we want in return for Monroe

Plus knowing Monroe's high contract demands we would end up getting a 5-6M TPE which could come in handy next year at the deadline

His health is definitely a concern, but considering we'd likely be loosing Moose for nothing I'd be OK with a S&T if all parties agreed to it. Seems highly unlikely though.

JVG isn't going to be a GM, so he's not answering that phone call. I'm not so sure most GM's are going to undermine their own authority by letting the new coach negotiate with his brother.

undermine? It's called leveraging your personnel. You utilize those relationships to your teams benefit. GM's frequently have a handful of guys around the league they are comfortable with which is why you will see the same trade partners again and again. Coaches are frequently the same way, bringing in "their guys". Nothing wrong with it. The league will intervene if they consider it to be a detriment to the league, such as when they **** down CP3 to the Lakers.

When its put that way,it dosent sound bad at all,the only thing is,wont we lose that bit of cap space signing moose ,will we miss the deadline to still use whats ever left from the trade? Isnt there a time period befor moose can be traded,I think its jan if iam not mistaken ?

S&T is one transaction so it happens immediately.

Monroe would sign AND be traded to Nawlins for Anderson straight away.

That was not shot down as detriment to the league but as detriment to the Pelicans whom were being ran by league til a new owner emerged. AKA it was basically an owner nixing a bad trade by their GM and rightfully so.

Yes, Dan Gilbert cried about the formation of super teams and said the league was going to be full of Washington Generals with a few Globetrotters. Curious how he shut up as soon as he employed Lebron-Irving-Love.

Yes - undermine. Definitely. Their GM has reportedly been on thin ice anyway. If you have the new coach taking trades with other teams, that GM is not going to be around long. Sure, different front offices may have relationships with each other, but when was the last time you heard about a coach taking the lead in trade negotiations? Coaches bring in "their guys" but that is to COACHING positions. They don't bring their guys into management roles.

Beat me to it. The guy is alternately annoying or enraging as a commentator. I often find myself thinking; Will you just shut up!

Ryno's shooting was terrible down the stretch. At least it felt that way as his fantasy owner. And that was with a guy like Anthony Davis drawing double teams.
