Any interest in these guys signing as backups on the cheap?

I'd be happy to have Single return as our backup SF if we let Butler go. I like Jerebko more, but there isn't much room for him in the rotation with Toliver here.

I doubt Jerebko would even consider returning. As for Singler, the belief was he'd get a full MLE type deal in free agency - I'd just as soon draft a SF and keep Butler for one season as a mentor, and then have said draftee SF lock down the starting gig in a years time for the next decade.

If any GM gives Singler over 5 mil a year (MLE-ish), that person should be immediately fired. It's not that he's terrible, it's just that he's completely replaceable by a number of guys for less money. Tolliver is one such example.

Jerebko I like more, but he needs a place in which he'll get consistent minutes. Unlike Singler, Jerebko never got consistent run in Detroit. They seemed to like him in Boston, and he got playoff minutes, too, so I'd bet they try and bring him back.

I was thinking in the 3/10 range for each.

I don't see that happening with the cap going up soon

You're thinking they get more? About what?

If that's what they are being offered I feel like both of them would be better off taking one year deals with teams they have guaranteed roles on and then seek longer contracts one the cap rises next summer.

I'd rather worry about who the starters are first. Only position locked is Drummond. Reggie Jackson is not even signed for next season. Monroe is likely to leave. And KCP is gonna be a career backup SG. And at starting SF we have????

Im guessing that Butler will be cut and then resigned for vet min so we don't need either.

Singler is a RFA i believe and OKC actually values him, JJ seems to like it in Boston, he didn't work here for a reason, Toliver is teh backup

Both seem like decent guys and I wish them well... but it already didn't work out for them here and neither guy looks to be the next Afflalo/Middleton. We can plug holes with cheap vets/trades/2nd round picks after we address our need for starting quality play at both forward spots.

I would prefer a do over with Middleton.

Considering Jerebko requested a trade, i can't see him having any interest in coming back.
And if Singler is a RFA i see OKC hanging onto him.
I'd be happy with getting both guys, but it's not happening.

JJ definitely isn't coming back. He wanted out.

I think we would welcome singler back, but it's not going to happen. He's an RFA, so we would have to overpay him. He's good team/glue guy, but not the kind of guy you get in a bidding war over.

Two things. It's a little early to call KCP a career backup. This is his year, to make his stamp. Secondly, it would be a wierd series of events for us to somehow not sign Reggie.

There, for now, are three locks. Drummond, reggie, and pope. (Unless something just bizzaro happens)

SF is, without question our greatest need, that I 100% agree with. It absolutely has to be addressed first.

I don't consider Pope anything near a lock to start next season. SVG isn't as high on him as this forum seems to be. He could well be traded or even start the season behind Meeks or another acquisition.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but what is this statement regarding SVG's opinion of KCP based upon? I read most Piston related stuff, and SVG generally lists Drummond, Jackson, and KCP as the three current building block assets. Granted, he has remarked on KCP needing to get more consistent and have better balanced performance between home and away. He has also stated he (SVG) needs to show more patience with KCP as he's a young player. Is there a reference, or is this your impression?

No way in hell meeks starts over him. The reason pope starts, is because of his defense, make no mistake. Meeks is horrific on defense.

Now, I have zero problem bundling him with, say Jennings, for a bad ass SG, but that's about it. Pope is an absolute LOCK to start, if our sg situation remains the same. I'll bet whatever you want on it.

KCP has got a leg up, but I wouldn't call it a lock. I don't want to see it, but I wouldn't be shocked at a Jennings/Jackson backcourt. Meeks was also in the running last summer before the injury. If he comes into camp in great shape and stroking long J's, he could get back in the conversation. I'd say it's KCP's spot to lose at this point, but there is still a possibility that he loses it.
