The Detroit Pistons announced today that Arnie Kander has informed the organization of his intent to resign as physical therapist effective June 30. Kander has served as a member of the Pistons' training staff since 1992 when he was named the club's first strength and conditioning coach.
"Arnie is an innovator who helped define the art of physical training for athletes in our league," said Tom Gores, Principal Owner of Palace Sports & Entertainment, the Detroit Pistons and Chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity. "He's been a great Piston for more than two decades, and on a personal level he's been a friend who helped our transition into ownership. We wish him nothing but the best in the future."
http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nba/p ... /28703143/Can't say I'm surprised given the reshuffle last season not to mention I suspect Gores and Stan and Co want to go with a more established science approach whereas Kander seemed more like a free wheeler. I wonder if he joins another team or just focuses on his private practice going forward.

Bad decison on gore and stan, the guy is one of the best in the league, they should have given him what he wanted, some other team will snatch him up befor the season starts.

He may just want a change. There isn't enough info out yet.
It sucks because he's so well respected around the league.

He could want to concentrate on his own practice.I dont think hes that old and would want to re-tire.But if it does come out that it was gores/stan that let him go because of money or control, etc, then it really is a big mistake on there part.

We'll be fine. Its Abdenour that was actually important. Hopefully they'll bring someone in with a more science based approach.

Arnie's approach definitely was more off the wall than regular medicine, so this will be a welcoming change in my book. As long as we don't have the Bull's medical staff or the recent Lakers, we'll be fine.

SVG did restructure the medical last season so I hope that didn't push him out.
Either way, the guy had a pretty good run and i hope he does well where ever he ends up.

Wasn't Arnie "promoted" to actually oversee the dudes SVG brought it?
Maybe he didn't like being a Boss of the group?
I seriously doubt he's been lost due to $$$ or ego issues & more likely that Arnie didn't enjoy his new position at this stage of his life

Really a huge loss losing Arnie. This is bad.
http://m.greensboro.com/detroit-s-magic ... l?mode=jqmHowever he got pushed out, it's a disappointment.
Hopefully he starts his own practice and players can just pay him directly... They still need him for a few more championships in Drummonds prime.

If I'm Gores I make sure that any Pistons athlete that goes to Arnie gets their expenses completely reimbursed. You can't let a guy like that get away without being honored.

Did they say he was going to work for another team? I just read he tendered his resignation. I'd imagine he's fiscally well off enough that he can pursue whatever his heart desires at this point. Maybe get back into the ballet game? Who knows?

That molecular water debacle was kind of embarrassing. I'm open to change.

While some may not have understood or approved or Kander's methods, there is no denying that they were effective. Kander was great at his job, sad to see him leave, and wish him the best.

many may not have "agreed" with his methods but there is NO doubt that he has been a great employee of this team for so long. a pretty noteworthy loss, for whatever reason it was. i wish him the best

Until something comes out to prove otherwise I'm willing to believe that Arnie is leaving of his own accord

I'm gonna miss the "Let's sign so-and-so. He may have paralysis, but Arnie can make him into an All-Star again!" threads.
