Keep 8th eat Lance Stephenson

Contract for the 9th pick. Select Porzingis or WCS with the 8th and Stanley Johnson with the 9th. With the 38th select Alexander Vezenkov. Sign Glenn Robinson III and Gerald Green as FA and we are set!

Charlotte owes us a pick with a bad contract I suppose.

We aren't tying up cap space with Lance Stephenson. He doesn't fit this offense, he's not a consistent shooter and not a high character individual. #9 isn't enough to take that on

Lance would have to take KCPs minutes so we would have to move him for a late lottery pick or something. I don't think Charlotte would do it anyway though.

If the Hornets used the 9th pick to dump Lance it would be a terrible deal for them. He's essentially on an expiring contract since the last year of it is a team option. They're much, much better off keeping the 9th pick and just banishing him from the team for a season if it gets that bad.

I'm sure they were tickled to death to get a future first rounder for basically eating one year of a bad contract. This would be an even worse mistake in reverse. Total foolishness.

No! Just no!

Happy to say I was wrong about Stephenson...or maybe Charlotte just didn't have the systems in place Indiana did?

Either way avoid him at all costs

Are we allowed to have more than 1 player on the stretch rule? The cost to stretch Lance, would be offset by having the 9th pick of the draft on a 4-5 year rookie contract. I'd do it, if we can stretch him out.

Nope, you can only stretch one guy.

There is no chance that the Hornets do this trade, it'd be beyond awful for them. Lance is essentially expiring and he isn't getting paid that much in the first place. You're dreaming mate.

Lance doesn't fit in with Drummond and Jackson, so I wouldn't do it for the 9th pick even. Not to mention the point that was already made that Charlotte only has to suffer through next year, but he's basically an expiring and could he traded as such :o . Someone else will bite and probably want to give him a try.. if it works then they can accept the team option.

I don't think that's true and there isn't anything in Coon's FAQ that says anything about it. The Pistons actually used the stretch provision on Aaron Gray's contract so they wouldn't have been able to use it on Smith's too if there was only a limit of one per team. I've heard that before though so some of that information might have gotten mixed up with the amnesty provision.

Lance is the opposite of the type of player SVG says he's after. He's a knucklehead who doesn't have a reliable outside shot. Far from the low drama/high efficiency talent we're targeting.

We didn't use the stretch provision on Gray's contract, we just cut him.

Pincus has the Pistons using the stretch on Gray. Without Sham and storyteller doing their contract stuff anymore it's hard to find a quality source to cross-reference but Pincus has been pretty accurate since I've started following him.

I could have sworn that we didn't stretch him, oh well. It's okay to be wrong sometimes, right?

I dunno seems like getting 2 prospects out of this draft might actually be worth taking on Lance for a bit.

Its really a silly thing to talk about since the Hornets would never do it though. Surprised to see such a strong negative reaction to the idea on our end.

Lance blows but he's an expiring. I'd happily do the trade and just waive or stretch him, but Charlotte never will.

I definitely agree that it would be worth taking Stephenson on for the 9th pick, but like you said Charlotte would never do it. Just a fantasy that we (or fans of other teams) shouldn't shouldn't get too excited about.
