2 Shocking Moose Stats...

I recently was reading an article about intriguing free agents and Greg Monroe was listed at #3 with a description about his game.
2 stats jumped out at me and it shouldn't have been so surprising because we all know Moose isn't a thrilling defender or outside shooter but seeing it in black and white really put things in perspective.
"Modern-day bigs need to stretch defenses or rank as premier rim protectors.
Monroe—who allowed opponents to shoot 60.1 percent inside six feet of the hoop—is neither," wrote Bleacher Report's Dan Favale.
"He's just a 34.7 percent shooter outside of three feet for his career."Essentially on every non- dunk or lay up hes a sub 35% shooter

This is why he's not worth the max IMO.

You consider these stats to be "shocking"? I could have guessed and almost hit them on the nose.

He would be the biggest waste of a max contract for us, especially with the way this roster is now setup. I want him as a backup big but not at the price he comes at.

Don't do it SVG... back away from that pen... let the slow Center walk.

Very very telling stats, however lets keep in mind, since Dre's been here, he's been playing out of position. So those stats shouldn't suprise anyone. The ironic thing was that Moose's lack of performance was always blamed on Smith, but i think it was more Dre, Moose is a center.
Why we shouldn't sign moose"He's just a 34.7 percent shooter outside of three feet for his career."
its been 5 years, either he hasn't been working on it, or is just incapable. Either reason dictates he's not worth us spending a ton of money. I honestly believe that when SVG got here, and basically stated DRe's our future, he told moose the max we'd pay him, told him we aren't letting him go for free cuz the team needs him this season , and maybe SVG can figure out how to make it all work and Moose can prove to us he's worth more than our set price. As the season went on, nothing changed, we decided to part ways professionally . We'd love a S&T but we've made our stance. I truly wish i could sit down and the negotiation table just to hear whats going the f* on. haha

he should've been traded for a top 10 pick in 2012

He shouldn't play power forward. His range is better than Andre's. His post moves and passing are better. His defense is good apart from rim-protection. His offensive rebounding is elite, but Andre cheats by rebounding his own bricked layups. Also, Greg Monroe can make free throws.

Drummond "held" his opponents to 60% FG under 6 feet as well, along with Anthony Davis, Tim Duncan, Rudy Gobert and Marc Gasol. I certainly won't argue that Monroe is some sort of defensive anchor but he certainly isn't performing substantially worse than his peers.

The most shocking thing about Moose isn't a statistic, but rather that he never made a significant improvement in his game since his 2nd season. Maybe he just doesn't put in the work, or maybe he doesn't have the drive to be more than just good. Or maybe he puts in the work but it doesn't translate.
I don't find it likely but either way it's disappointing considering how promising he looked and how HUGE of an improvement he made from the middle of his rookie year or so until the middle of his 2nd season. He went from getting blocked like no other underneath the basket in his first few months as a rookie to being able to finish better/utilize the reverse and his body effectively, to being able to score in isolation situations in the post. And then....here we are today.
I feel like with a different mentality he might've been as good as ZBo.

If you're shocked by these stats, you've been watching the Pistons with a blindfold on.
