Looks like Porzingis won the runoff between him and Okafor for the 3rd spot on the big board. On to the next one.

Who's your pick for the #4 player on Detroit's big board?

2. D'Angelo Russell
3. Kristaps Porzingis

It looks like #5 is all but decided as well. #6 will be the next interesting one.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

How does Okafor drop that low? The guy is gonna be a great big. Porzingis is getting overrated now. The man can shoot, so what. His size suggests that he'll be pushed around like a ragdoll. He's no Nowitzki. He's just a big man that can shoot and is athletic enough to dunk it strong. Drummond would eat him alive at center lol. Think about it. He'd have to gain 20-30 lbs.

Russell on the other hand could be the best talent in the draft. He's a potential superstar. Might even take him over Towns. But this board is confused, we already have two point guards...

I'm not a Porzingis supporter by any stretch but you sound extremely confused, he's a 4 not a 5.

Also, Russell can easily play SG in the NBA, he doesn't have to dominate the ball because he can shoot.

Because we have Drummond at the 5 and there's no way a Drummond Okafor pairing would work efficiently. I agree and I'd say most do that on talent alone he's second, but he plays the same position as our future centre so he doesn't deserve a high standing on Detroit big board.

okafor is off my board for the pistons, to tell you the truth. besides the fact that there is a 0% chance he fits next to Drummond, his game doesn't translate well to the nba. he has talent but he'll have a career like big al or moose, where they make a big impact on a small part of the game.

and drafting him in hope of trade bait is an unnecessary risk. I'd rather just take winslow, kristaps or Johnson.

Yeah, Winslow is all but locked in if Okafor wins the #4 spot. I might end the voting in under a day for that one if either of those guys pull way out ahead.

I don't want to sound like I'm touting Jahlil Okafor or am a fanboy of any sort, but I don't see how we were okay with having Towns #1 and Okafor (appears to) falls to #4, (likely) beating out the best SF on the board, Justise Winslow, our biggest positional need. I don't get the logic. SF>C...Towns>>>Okafor?...Okafor>>Towns? Halp.

Towns can easily play power forward without being a liability defensively and looks to have some potential with his jumper. You can't say the same for Okafor on either front. Plus Towns is the top prospect in the draft. It's that simple.

^That said, my general strategy here would be to draft BPA and figure it out later. All else being equal, go for the position of need. Having more talent, more assets, more value, can only help us down the road.
Thus, so far my draft board is Towns=Okafor (waiting to see them differentiate)>Russell>Porzingis.

If we took Okafor, then we give the remainder of Drummond's 30.5 mpg to him, and we (at worse) have our backup C.
Jackson/Jennings/Dinwiddie
KCP/Jackson
?/Meeks/Miller
Ilyasova/Tolliver and Okafor
Drummond/Okafor

Winslow would have to be substantially better than Okafor and the FA market to warrant drafting a SF against a top 2 draft talent. I think we're afraid of logjams and stockpiling a position because Joe Dumars would create a surplus at a position and then never act quickly enough to clear it up. I'm assuming that SVG would.

Yeah I thought he was a center. Okafor can still be a PF though. He can play face up. I'd still consider Okafor to be a better prospect than Porzingis which means I'd rather take Okafor.

IMO:

Towns, Russell, Okafor, Dingus, Winslow is the top 5 regardless of what criteria you use
