Who's your pick for the #7 player on Detroit's big board?

No brainer - Mudiay. Unfortunately, I think this is how the top 7 goes - maybe not in this order, but without WCS going in the top 7, that means Hezonja and Winslow will both be gone. We get to pick up the scraps at #8.

I'm still optimistic that someone decides to take WCS somewhere in there.

But yeah, the risk of not getting one of these guys is very, very real.

I went with Cauley-Stein here because I think he's the better fit with Detroit out of the two guys who would be the better best player available picks. And his fit with the Pistons isn't really that great either unless you think he can start hitting jumpers consistently in games.

To me Mudiay is a pure point guard and not someone who's going to excel being off-ball. Which is fine, but Van Gundy is likely bringing back Jackson regardless and I'm not sure Emmanuel's upside is as high as it's been perceived. He's a big wildcard though and teams are probably projecting more off of his high school/AAU tape than the few games he played in the Chinese league.

It would be a really tough situation for Detroit if those two were the ones who fell. I think there's a good chance Cauley-Stein and Mudiay go 6-7 respectively though.

No brainer for me. Mudiay deserves to be here IMO, and he's a pure point guard and athleticism that we haven't seen since Wall. He's not as speedy and explosive as him but shares that same leadership and point guard skills.

Honestly, if we didn't have Jackson, he'd be my pick over any of the SFs.

I think we're way off thinking Mudiay falls this far. And I'd be really surprised if SAC took a small forward with him and WCS available. We're just a little too anxious about where the small forwards are going.

But if he's there, yeah, Mudiay to Denver.

When it comes to 8 I hope you include an option for trading down. I don't think Johnson is a big reach and I'd have to have a pretty nice deal to do so. Go from 8 to 16 or so and you go from hoping for a star to hoping for a starter.

Sacramento and Orlando will be the teams that can crater the draft in our favor or against it, as their needs aren't as readily apparent as well as their history of drafting unconventionally.

I think, a worst case scenario is Stan Johnson. Which isn't exactly a bad place to be, a 19 year old small forward with an amazing build.

No way Mudiay drops past Sacramento. I think 6 is his floor. They've been looking for an elite PG for years, and they're aware that Darren Collison isn't an elite PG. But, they have Rudy Gay- so I doubt their primary focus is on the wing.

This isn't a mock draft, it's a big board. We don't necessarily think he will drop this far, it's a reflection of how the board feels about both his skills and our needs.

I don't know enough about Mudiay to say he's definitively a better prospect than Stanley Johnson, so my vote goes to the latter. But I'm draftexpressing Emannuel now.
