Anthony Bennett?

I must keep the tradition alive - if a player ends up in Wiretap, we must start a thread to consider trading for him :-)

Anthony Bennett probably wasn't deserving of the #1 pick to begin with, but that put a lot of pressure on him, and then he got hurt, and , well, I think we can all agree he hasn't had a stellar career so far. But as I recall he can score and has some handles. I know we just traded for a stretch 4, but seems like he might be able to fit on the Pistons. Of course, it always comes down to what would we have to give Minnesota to make the trade. Jennings? Meeks? I'd do it. But no first rounder, RJ, KCP, and of course, Drummond to be included in such a trade.

I'd offer Cartier Martin.

I would love to have this guy. Picked super high, and some players take time to adjust. He is super versital, and I think he could play some 3, because of his speed. Nice shot, just needs confidence. He isn't a Darko situation, this kid just needs consistent minutes, and he'll be fine.

Getting him would be a steal.

I'm not as enthusiastic as you are but I definitely wouldn't mind bringing him here if he comes cheap. He's been on two awful teams so far and I'm sure that has had at least some effect on his growth. He seemed to settle for too many long twos but that could be because of the lack of spacing and having nowhere in the paint to go, get a couple shooters around him and he could flourish. Solid rebounder, doesn't turn the ball over and as you mentioned he does have some range. The real question though is what would it take to get him here?

His contract is a total ripoff. What's he make like 7 mil per since he was drafted #1? I want nothing to do with this turd for that price.

That is the key. He has played wildly inconsistent minutes, no one has really given him a real chance, which seems nuts @#1.

Kinda reminds me of Billups first few years, everyone wrote him off, and well, the rest is history.

It's just under 6 mil for next year, which is definitely a massive rip off. But, 2016-2017 is a team option. If he shows no progress or signs of someone who could be a good rotation player, we decline his option. So he's essentially an expiring with some upside.

If we get could him for Cartier Martin I'd give it some thought. I view it as a low risk high reward move. He's been terrible thus far in his career but I think he has no confidence currently, and I think both Flip & Mike Brown also had no confidence in him. Having SVG could do him some good.

IDK, he looks like a too chunky too short front court player that likes to shoot it but can't. I don't really see anything worth while besides the Cavs messing up and drafting a bust at #1 in a weak draft.

If he wasn't the #1 pick would you consider signing him for 6 per?

Watched a few T'Wolves on NBA Broadband last season. He is the same soft undersized tweener --that everyone thought he'd be -- who is not really good at any particular skill on the basketball court. I am not sure why we would waste our time on what would be just another project (and expensive one at that).

It depends on what Minny want in return.
He's worth taking a risk on for a second or martin or something in that range, but as the roster is now, he's not going to see minutes ahead of Illyasova or Tolliver and Miller has a head start on him because he's been with the team longer.
He's still got a lot of potential. And I think if he got anywhere near his ceiling he'd be a very good player, he just hasn't shown enough to give anyone confidence in that happening. His contract is also pretty steep for what he's shown too.

That's the thing, though. Why would any team --that wants to compete right now-- give any guaranteed minutes for Bennett to develop? If he cannot get minutes on a horrible team like the T'Wolves, why would he get any here?

Definitely not, and that's a very legitimate reason to not be interested.

its a very expensive gamble.
The only way it works is if there's an open roster towards the end of free agency and we have a bit of free cap space and even then it would be a risky move.

I'm rarely on board with bringing in recently high drafted players that have struggles, Beasley and Derrick Williams for example, but something about Bennett seems a little different to me, not sure what it is exactly.

He's a nice prospect but doesn't bring much to our team with illy and tolly on here. He's too undersized to play center and not a spread 4. he's still has a chance to be at least a contributor .

Id do Jennings and Cartier Martin for Bennett

We get another 3-4M to spend this offseason (that extra money could be very useful) and a young prospect

Team option the year after means it's a one year try out

What about this deal?
Shabbazz, Dieng, Bennett
for
Jennings, #8

Jackson/Dinwiddie
KCP / Meeks
Shabazz / Wes Johnson -- Bennett
Ilyasova / Tolliver
Drummond / Dieng

I wouldn't offer Jennings or Meeks, especially not for THJ, he's a crappy version of JR Smith.
