Justise Winslow NBA Comparison
Wow, this board hates Johnson so much and I'm supposed to be the negative nancy here.
Am I the only one who thinks Winslow has a good chance at busting and becoming the next Derrick Williams or even MKG. His game will not translate as well as Johnson's in terms of playing SF. His footwork is good for post ups, but that's about it. And I doubt his size will allow for him to do in the post what he did against college players.
He has a nice eurostep, but that's all I'll give him as far as how he will do in the NBA.
He also has a poor FT shooting percentage and his three pointers in college were mostly unguarded.
I was in the Miami Heat forum, and those guys think Winslow can play SG/SF in the NBA... I think not....
And I don't know about you, but Winslow's character could be questionable.
------------
I will give Stanley the edge on the following:
1. Ability to play SG/SF in the NBA
2. Character. Watch the guy get drafted by the Pistons, and that will explain it all.
3. Shooting. Better free throw shooter (shooting 10 percent higher than Justise). FG% wise is hard to compare, but Johnson took more attempts. Not enough time to drag out shooting stats.
About the same as Justise (based on observations and short reads)
1. Work ethic
2. Defensive potential
Other than the Ron Artest comparisons thrown out there, I think he can become the next Iggy :)

Re: Justise Winslow NBA Comparison
I think a lot of posters didn't even watch college ball this season. Winslow is a nice player but people are talking about him like he's going to be a superstar. He was one of the worst mid range shooters, worst moving 3pt shooters, measured in at 6'4, had a terrible attitude in his workouts. He's good as a hustle and in the paint player but everyone's bigger in the pros and Okafor created a lot of space for those stand still 3s.

MKG is hardly a bust, that's just ignorant so I won't read the rest.

For a second pick, yes he was a bust. Was picked ahead of Beal, Lillard, and Drummond. MKG is good, but he's nothing great.

Justise Winslow NBA Comparison
I trusted SVG to develop talent. As such I wanted Oubre and Winslow before Johnson. But I guess Stan sees something more in the Stanimal

Re: Justise Winslow NBA Comparison
I don't think Winslow has the edge on him in terms of work ethic (check the SJ work ball is life documentary, his work ethic is ridiculous) or in defensive potential (SJ's got an extra 20lbs and will be more versatile in that regard. Will be able to guard 2-3, some 1s and small ball 4s). I'd say they're about equal in defensive potential.
Winslow does have the edge in finishing ability and explosiveness though, clearly.

I wanted Winslow during the college season because I thought Stanley Johnson would be off the board.
I'm very pleased with this pick however I still think Winslow can be a solid NBA player.

Stanley Johnson = 36 year old Kobe Bryant w/better defense less offensive composure
Justice Winslow = 33 year old Dwayne Wade (healthy)

As soon as I saw that oubre vs johnson youtube video I was hooked on the guy and tried to catch as many games as I could.I have no doubts he will be one of the better rookies this season.

MKG is hardly a bust.
Id take him over Beal easily, because he has a way better impact on the game. When MKG plays we are way over .500. When he doesn't we lose. Period. Lillard of course not. We drafted Walker, and no one knew Lillard would be a stud.
Drummond? Well, Id rather have MKG. Im biased of course, way biased. But it is what it is. Barnes was drafted at 4, and Id take MKG over him any day of the week.

Can you blame svg? Winslow had a poor attitude and measurements weren't there. I think the biggest suprise was that it was between sj and booker not Winslow

However, the pick here for Charlotte, in hindsight, should have been either Bradley Beal or Andre Drummond. We'll go with Drummond since he is coming off a season in which he averaged 12.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game. Drummond is still scratching the surface of his potential, having just turned 21."

MKG is how old? Exactly, he's just scratching the surface as well. In the meantime, he's already one of the leagues best defenders, his mid-range game is vastly improved and he's very good on the break. Just imagine if the team around him actually had pieces that fit, I think he will show why he was drafted so high starting next season now that they have added shooting around him.

I might take MKG over Drummond to save that bread. Not pay Dre the max get MKG for less. Then again he can't shoot FT's like that either

Re: Justise Winslow NBA Comparison
MKG will go top5 in any redraft, the guy is the best player on his team and a big time defensive wing at age 21, calling him a bust is just ridiculous.
Winslow wont bust because not only he has the athleticism, he plays hard, to his strengths, smart and knows how to play the game, at the very least he is going to be a terrific rotation wing, plus defender and passer.
