Knights not a real PG, but he's a great shooter, defender and rebounding guard. He turned a corner with Milwaukee and should look even better with Phoenix splitting PG duties with Bledsoe. Don't think he's worth the $$ though, but Id take Knight on 5/70 over Jackson at 5/90.

I always liked Knight, so I'm glad he's getting paid.
I'm also happy we aren't the ones paying him .

Knight is very much a combo type guard like Billups was early in his career... he still has a chance to learn the PG role and become a team leader like Billups. That said, I would say $12 per for Knight would have been where he should sign at but perhaps he's getting a little extra considering the salary cap bump that's about to happen.

Knight - near maxed out
KCP - Rookie deal
Middleton - likely maxed out
Monroe - likely maxed out money but not years
Dre - soon to be franchise maxed.
Folks hat on picking 8th and being on the treadmill, but that is four maxed out players and KCP from that spot in the draft.

Yeah, when you look at what Dumars did draft wise the last half decade he's been really impressive with where he's drafted. Its just that he's gotten fleeced on some trades, wasted money on FA's, and made poor coaching choices.

Knight/KCP/Middleton/Monroe/Drummond is a playoff team. If Dumars was allowed to go all in on rebuilding instead of retooling, he'd still have a job now and Pistons would be much better positioned.

Our last 5 1st rounders, all drafted between 7-9.
Stanley
KCP
Drummond
Knight
Monroe

**** if that's what he's getting, Tobias is definitely getting his max, isn't he?

Can't argue with that. Perhaps if Knight was never traded and Smith was never signed, Knight would've improved even more with Chauncey mentoring him than he did in Milwaukee this season.
Monroe, for all his flaws, could've formed a very good tandem with Dre with that type of shooting from positions 1-3. Joe D was a very good drafter...Dre/Monroe straight up fell to him so I won't praise him much for that, but Middleton was an excellent pick and picking Knight turned out pretty well too.

Knight isn't that great. He's just really good at what he does and that's shooting, defense, and rebounding. He's a SG not a PG. With that said, he deserves that amount of money. In the last CBA, he would've amounted to around 10 million. With inflation, his contract goes up. I can see Jackson getting 13-14 million a year for 4 years. Dre will be maxed for sure.
I just don't understand the money and what SVG is going to offer Carroll or Green. Can he still throw a max at Tobias? I don't think so. So I'm wondering what's going to happen tomorrow. One thing is for sure, SVG is going to reach out to 2 guys and offer them a contract right away like how he did to Meeks. Speaking of Meeks, that contract is looking smaller this year. I wonder what Jennings could get if Knight can get that.

Pity Joe didn't have the balls to stand his ground with Gores and say that Knight & Middleton were essential to the rebuilding of the franchise.
We can blame Gores for his "playoffs or bust" bluster but the fact is Joe should have forced the issue.

More like pity Joe couldn't find a decent coach after so many years
Our talent was misused and wasn't able to develop properly. Middleton was barely seeing the floor instead we were playing Tayshaun.
Knight has and always will suck. Phoenix made a huge mistake trading away Dragic and even moving Thomas and his cheap deal yet giving Knight big bucks in addition to throwing the Lakers pick in the trash for no reason. Phoenix front office makes Dumars look smart

Yeah they're idiots for that. I don't get why they got rid of Dragic and Thomas like that. They're both starting caliber PGs in the league.

Why sign Thomas in the first place? They should have given that 8M to Frye and ran with the same squad that brought them so much success the year before.

Hey he's on a really good contract. That's only 8m. My mind is starting to adjust to the new contracts being signed. Who's better Ilyasova or Channing Frye?

To me, Ilyasova is definitely better and I think he's a few years younger as well.

I've been one of the biggest BK supporters when he was here. Glad that boy is finally being appreciated
