How best to handle Drummond?

Since this has become a subject of discussion in a lot of threads, I though it would be interesting to get a pulse on the boards' consensus on this matter.
Go ahead and pick one option. I put out there what I felt were the 4 viable options. Let me know if I've left any out.

Option #1. Seriously, let's not **** this one up.

Might as well lock him up now. That contract will look better in a couple years anyways.
He just saw his mates (Lillard, Davis) get locked up so he's likely itching for one too.

And to be crystal clear, the extending him now option ASSUMES a 5 year maximum deal is what it would take to get that done.

I say lock him up. Other teams are doing it like with Davis and Lillard, I would rather have another 5-6 years of guaranteed Drummond than even just a small chance that he would do a Monroe next off season.

To me option one is really the only option...otherwise you have a Monroe situation where he walks for free if he so chooses.
Give him the 5 year max now and 3 of those years are going to be a bargain deal with the cap rising as it will..

Give that man his money now and be done with it.

Plus his max won't be nearly as much as what Davis got because Dre hasn't been an allstar or anything yet right? Makes too much sense to lock him up now.

I'm torn... He seems to have a good relationship with the organization so I'm sure they have their hand on the pulse of the situation.
I wouldn't mind waiting so there is Cap space next season but does that me his max is more because of new figures and revenue projections?

Give him the 4 year max now then trade him if he doesn't progress. Hes not worth the 5 year max even in this new nba economy, but if he pushes the 5th year then Id give it to him and continue to view him as a trade chip unil he progresses. Deandre Jordans contract is going to set his market value imo

Losing Drummond would set us back years.

If we're not a Top 6 seed in the East before the trade deadline I say trade him for max value before we lose him.. I'm not trying to get Monroe'd 2 successful top ten picks in a row. Flip him for a Top 40 player on a long-term contract. That we can keep! You gotta trap guys in DET with trades lol

Give him whatever he wants now. It's a bit of gamble for the Pistons but one they have to make. Letting Drummond walk or trading him to another team so they don't have to pay him isn't a good look for a franchise that wants to win and become a better destination for free agents. It's not even a debate.

It's not a gamble to lock him up with a 5 year MAX - he's the reason SVG is here!
It's in Stan's best interest to lock him in.
Drummond is the sun our players revolve around. Without him our entire system collapses in on itself.

How is he worth the 4 year max but not the 5 year max? The 5th year on a max starting in 2016 is less than the 1st year would be on a new contract after the 4 year max ended, since the cap goes up again and his years of service tier goes up. You might want to rethink that.

Looks like DeAndre just set the market value, 5yr max it is lol

Sign him now. 5 year max. Easiest decision of the summer to me. Every other move made has revolved around him. To then not sign him and give him the option of taking the qualifying offer next year would be complete buffoonery. Especially after just going through that with Monroe. Dont even give him that option. He wants to get paid now. We want him longterm. Get it done.
