I want nothing to do with him, he isn't very good and we already have plenty of guys on the roster who can play power forward.

First number one pick to be bought out during rookie contract?

Gotta be, right?

LaRue Martin only lasted 72-76, but I don't think he was ever bought out. This is pretty sad.

I would think so on the buyout no.1 during rookie contract.

If we could trade Granger and Martin for him, i would do it. Can't see why the Wolves would though.

But then he would wind up getting buried on the Pistons bench or starting in Grand Rapids. Doesn't seem like money well spent. Let him become a Sixer.

Bennet has played in more games than Greg Oden . . .

Actually I think that the Pistons is one of the best options for him, no long term answer at PF, pro guys to learn from in Ersan and Tolliver, a great coach and close from home (Tdot).
We will see, but it is worth a flier in the Pistons situation.

Why not?? 8-10 minutes behind Ersan, give him a chance.

I made this exact thread a couple months ago and it seems it is more split this time around.I would take a flier on him,if it didnt cost us much,But after doing more re-search on him,he really is a bad defender and has butter hands, maybe stan can get more out of him tho.

He's not better than Tolliver, so he wouldn't play much. He's not super cheap as the #1 overall pick. If he gets bought out and will sign for the minimum with no guarantee of playing time, I like him better than Granger/Martin/Bullock/Thomas, but that's not high praise.

Absolutely. I have been thinking of changing my avatar but a replacement is a difficult find.

Pick him up Stan. His 100x100 destiny awaits.

There is a big difference between trading for him vs signing him after a buyout. He obviously hasn't lived up to the hype so far, but there was a reason he was widely regarded as a lottery pick. If he gets bought out though, he would be just another minimum contract, and frankly, he's got a lot more potential than guys like martin or granger. I certainly wouldn't be upset if we cut any of the marginal guys to take a flier on Bennett. He was obviously a great competitor in college, so if a coach can bring that spirit out in him, he has the potential to contribute.

Things may have been different if he hadn't started his career overweight and out of shape coming of an injury. It absolutely destroyed his confidence and even after getting in shape he never got a chance to really get it back.

As things are, his career is probably over.

If he doesn't get bought out and we swing a trade for Granger and other pieces that aren't going to be on the roster anyway, then I don't mind it.
