Pistons players were given iPads on Thursday that will be their constant companions throughout the season, crammed with teaching tools and scouting aids. "We’ve been waiting on that with all their stuff loaded up," Van Gundy said. "They can get full game, their minutes, their shots, their fouls, their turnovers, opposing players coming up."

Van Gundy’s video crew customizes content for each player. He said its loaded remotely onto each player’s iPad 20 minutes after a game ends, so they have it ready for them to study by the time they’ve showered and left The Palace.

"Those guys picked it up right away," Van Gundy said. "(Assistant video coordinator) T.J. (Saint) was going through it fast and they all knew exactly what was going on. If it was me with the iPad … he lost me about a minute in. But with them it was all good.

SVG helping our boys take that next step towards contending.

I'm glad Stan is utilizing tech and being modern in his outlook toward the team.

The tech nerd in me is very happy.

$10 says Cartier Martin asked if he could get a free ipad on his way out the door.

I don't know why, but I really hope they didn't give him one. That guy basically robbed the Pistons of over $2 million and literally never brought any effort when he played.

I wonder if there is built in spyware of sorts that will allow the coaching staff and the like know who is watching the provided scouting vids and using the info provided and who isn't ever using it or using the ipad to catch up on Walking Dead or whatever.

Completely unrelated, but seeing your avatar I had a fleeting thought about how hilarious it would be if every one on the pistons board used this avatar for an entire day while posting on the GB.

As for as the thread goes...no surprise that SVG has brought tech/innovation to the team. Things like this bring us to where an NBA team should be in 2015.

Sort of unrelated but I came across this clip of SVG commenting on the importance of developing sound basketball skills at a young age if you want to be a serious player when you're at the professional level. It's refreshing to have a coach who recognizes this necessity. Perhaps I'm just so used to guys that the front office hired as fillers until we found a REAL coach.

SVG might be a great coach, but he's fat. he should really lose some weight (as an NBA coach).

As a coach how is his size, weight, height or fitness an issue?

If dude was Yogi he'd be getting all the picnic baskets!

In other news, Reggie has long arms and Dre is tall. Glad I could contribute.

He better coach the offense. We have barely 2 pages of playbook. We are so predictable and boring.
