Cuts?

Cuts need to be announced officially very soon... either today or Monday. I don't think there's much of a mystery about who won the last spot (Bullock!), but when do we hear about the fates of Granger, Martin, and Thomas officially?

Oops, my bad. I never saw it officially, and didn't see a thread about it here, either. Just looked through the older wiretaps and saw it, though.

Cartier robbed us blind for a year and will get paid for another.

Is Bachynski (sp?) still around? Or are we at 15 now?

SI article from today showing cuts so far.

Pistons are at 16, with Granger still "on the roster". He'll be cut by the time it becomes official.

Martin, Thomas, and Bachynski are all out. Granger is still here. I'm think he'll retire or come in midseason. I don't think we'll see him play a minute for the team.

Why the wait on Granger? He still wants to play so no hope of insurance picking up his contract.

Who is our second "affiliate" player? Thomas or Bachynski? Or is Thomas already Drive property since he played for them last season?

Granger probably needs to be bought out. He's making like 2 million this year.

I'm sure he'll be resolved soon.

They're hoping to trade him for something - I assume a future 2nd round pick. Likely it won't happen, but no reason not to try.

Boatright was waived earlier today too, although that wasn't a surprise. Detroit just wanted his D-League rights.

And yeah, my guess is that the Pistons are trying to negotiate a buyout with Granger.

Unsurprised by the Perry Jones cut. The Celtics have an absolute glut of forwards.

David Lee, Amir Johnson, Jared Sullinger, Jae Crowder, Evan Turner, Jonas Jerebko.

I guess Turner could see some minutes at sg, but man, that's a crazy looking depth chart. Minutes are going to be hard to come by and you could see some interesting rotations there.

No reason for Granger to take any buyout when he knows the team doesn't have roster space for him. Him giving into a buyout would be just giving up guaranteed money. He'll be waived tomorrow. Sucks because Granger is still top 5 one of my favorite players in the league....would have given anything to get him in like 2008/09/10 before the injury. Excited to see Bullock earn the spot though.

This Granger timing makes me believe it's not all hunky-dory between he and the Pistons. Pistons probably wanted him up in Detroit for camp and he refused or something.

Granger probably thinks he is owed even more money.

I think in that case, they'd suspend him in order to not pay him.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--danny-granger-to-be-waived-by-pistons-to-rehab-foot-injury-180600792.html

After the Detroit Pistons waive forward Danny Granger on Monday, Granger will need approximately a month to complete rehabilitation on a plantar fasciitis injury in his left foot, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Once Granger, 32, has finished his rehab, he’s hoping to begin workouts with teams to resume his NBA career, sources said.

Granger was unable to participate in Pistons training camp and has to be released Monday so Detroit can trim its roster to 15 players for opening night.

There's nothing for Granger here.

He probably wants to catch on with a better team, though I don't know what he really brings to the table at this point.
