The most impressive thing about our 3-0 start...

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Sat Oct 31, 2015 2:49 am

Our opponents are undefeated this year, besides their games against us.

Hawks are 2-1, with us being their only loss.
Bulls are 2-1, with us being their only loss.
Utah is 2-1, with us being their only loss.

That says a lot right there.... Bulls and Hawks are both likely top 4 teams in the East this year.

We still have Jennings. Also SJ development. Along with illy and Marcus getting more acclimated Detroit basketball

That's three quality wins right there. I'm really impressed at how good the chemistry seems to be with all the new faces already.

What's also impressive that we are winning while shooting below 41% every game so far.
Our defense is great, wait until we get a rhythm offensively..

Utah is 1-1, though.

But yeah, thrilled to be 3-0.

Yup, totally botched that! Impressive still that the only losses the teams we've beat thus far are against us.

Yeah, the actual most impressive thing is that our offense, outside of Andre's offensive rebounding, has been pretty sucky in general.

The defense, tho? That's been GOOD.

Our defense has been the main ingredient in carrying us.

Which is hilarious since nearly everyone (including myself) thought that this team was going to be way more focused on the offensive end rather than defense. Everyone has stepped up in terms of defending, closing out, and drawing charges.

I still don't like the ISOs being utilized so much except maybe Morris since he's been the only guy who hasn't done a weird thing of being a complete roller coaster on that end. Seriously, Aron Baynes tried to take it to the hole by driving like he was Harden on one play.

Please stop.

Lots of good defense and hustle :), it makes me extremely happy. SVG had an idea for the team and he has clearly put together something. It has been extremely entertaining to watch them, which is kind of funny because of how ugly it has been at times.

I've been impressed about how we have been able to grind at the end and how we come out of halftime firing. I also like how the new faces have played. Morris has been incredible for us so far, I hope that's a trend. One thing that feels sort of off is the lack, is it really a lack? I haven't checked stats. Anyway, it feels like a lack of Jackson lobs to Drummond. Tonight I thought I seen multiple opportunities where Pau committed to Jackson, Rose on his hip, he could have thrown it up to Drummond. Maybe it's just early in the season or I was too drunk when I was watching near the end of last year.

Utah is 1-1 and their one win coming against a really good college team. There are 3 active players on Philly's roster that would crack a decent team's rotation and maybe 1 or 2 other guys that would even make another decent roster.

Chicago is 2-1 with two wins against a heavily banged up Cleveland team and Brooklyn.... Atlanta beat New York and Charlotte. I understand we're excited but people chill....

Don't rain on the parade DTP!

Being 3-0 is awesome regardless of the opposition IMO.

Every game counts when you've missed the playoffs for so long.

As Stanimal said after Game 1 "we're trying to be undefeated EVERY DAY"!

Doesn't hurt to have goals man and so far so good! At the very least we're dialed in defensively.

We're average 7 more FTA per game than we did last year. Almost all of that is coming from Drummond who jumped from 4.5 to over 10. Make em or not, he's putting a lot of pressure on opposing teams now that he is our sole focus down low. Eventually it's gonna make things a hell of a lot easier for guys like Reggie, Stanley & Morris who should all benefit from being in the penalty.

Also kinda eerie yet cool is that all three teams that Flip coached in his years are undefeated right now...Was, Min, and us. Kinda cool!

The most impressive thing about our 3-0 start is the team chemistry, defensive intensity, and the mental toughness. In the past, when the shooting was off, the game was over. Now we erase mistakes and poor shooting nights with our defense. Also there used to be players who would mentally check out at the tough points in the game and pad their stats when the game was out of reach and the season was done. Guys seem to be playing for each other.

Bucks now 0-2.
Hornets who were perfect in pre-season, are also 0-2.

I watched the replay of that game and Moose was a defensive sive at critical parts of that game. I like the Greek freak but he has to be even better when playing with Moose.

No I absolutely do not miss Greg Monroe. Great guy but his defense (mostly attributable to his slow foot speed and below average athleticism)is just horrendous.

The Pistons team defense so far has been ridonkulous and I hate saying it but even if Erson is just a 1/8 of a foot speed faster then Moose, what a world of difference it makes. Good grief.

Ersan's not any faster than Monroe at all... but he's got huge nuts to take all those charges. He's not a shot blocker, but that's still help defense, something Moose just never did.

Morris, however, is considerably faster than Monroe when guarding 4's on the perimeter, and it makes a rather large difference.

Baynes is solid enough, probably doing just as good a job as the backup center defensively. In fact, they're pretty similar -- Moose a little longer, Baynes a lot stronger, Moose with better feet, Baynes with better reads.

I really like what I've seen from Morris on both ends of the floor, especially at PF, fit is so much better.

The teams we beat are STILL undefeated against the teams they've played besides us... Chicago beat Orlando today and Atlanta beat Charlotte so...

Atlanta, Chicago, and Utah are 8-0 against other teams and 0-3 against us.
