Its early but still gives us something else to discuss during some slow times. I think were ready to go out and try to get that 3rd big time player to build around Jackson and Drummond but theres still some other smaller names as well that could help out. Right now im looking at names like this.
Horford
Parsons
Pau Gasol
Batum (love what this guy is doing)
Harrison Barnes
Terrence Jones
Motiejunas
Ryan Anderson
Solomon Hill
Jeff Green

I think Harrison Barnes would be a good get, if it's possible. Assuming we resign Jennings, and not including a draft pick.
Jackson/Jennings
KCP/Meeks
Barnes/Johnson
Morris/Illyasova
Drummond/Baynes

Need a long term PF starter with any big money. All RFA's will all be matched - you can always trade them later.
One player I think makes sense as a target is Al Horford. Will be hard to pry him from situation in Atlanta, but he is from Michigan and he's at the age where maybe he'd be looking to get back around the parents more. Also we offer him the ability to play PF full time beside Drummond - which would probably add years to his career. He's also worked on his three point shot and at least early looks pretty damn good.
Batum would be nice - and Stan did try and trade for him before the draft (assumed swap of first was part of offer) so we do like him as a player and fit.
Do not want Ryan Anderson. He has connection to Stan though, would be a rich man's Ilyasova I guess.
Jackson|first round pick
KCP|Meeks
Johnson|Morris
Horford|Morris
Drummond|Baynes|Horford

Al Horford coming here? We'd be contenders. We'd have to pay him a lot though. There's a chance Horford believes in SVG playing so many games against Orlando. Budenholzer is a good coach too though. I think he stays in Atlanta. Would you let Parsons start at PF for us? I don't know. That's a downgrade from Horford. Who else is out there? I say we get this player through trade and there's a chance it happens at the trade deadline unless SVG trusts that he can land someone like Horford or maybe hold out on his chips and wait until the offseason if the team is playing well.

I'm still not sure there is any scenario under which we're a realistic free agent destination when most of the league will have cap space. The names towards the bottom of that list are possibilities, I suppose.
Barnes is going nowhere, though. Should probably forget about that one.

He'll be 30, not 50. I think Horford would be a great fit with Detroit but as always with the top free agents it's hard to envision them picking the Pistons over all the other suitors who have bigger profiles. Playing PF next to Drummond on a team that looks like it's starting to win is a fairly decent selling point though. But winning is the only thing that matters in this case. The Pistons probably have to finish comfortably above .500 and look good in the playoffs to lure someone like Horford.

Maybe, but Horford isn't stupid. He has to see the ceiling he's playing under in Atlanta. He's their best player. Great coach, and some very good complementary players, but that team isn't winning squat in the near future.
(Maybe we aren't either, but there's always Drummond. Franchise players help.)

I think if we make the playoffs, being such a young team we could get free agents like Horford, we overpay for most all of them anyways. With DRummond,JAckson,Kcp, Johnson we got one of the better young cores in the league, add Horford with Morris,? JEnnings, and BAines basically every player in there prime or rising HOrford would put us the ECF talk. If not eventually over the top.

Playing 1 in-4 out, I think I'd rather go after a SF and move Morris to PF than look for a traditional PF. Unless we can find a solid shooting PF, like a Dirk in style, or Durant in style, leaving Andre in the paint to cause havoc.

^ IMHO, you just perfectly described either young RFA PF from HOU. I'd honestly considering throwing big offers at both Motiejunas and Terrence Jones, figuring the Rockets can't match both and we'd wind up with one of 'em. I think both fit with our core both age-wise and style-wise perfectly (especially Motie, who could also cover some minutes at backup C).
I've also come around on Ryan Anderson, mostly 'cuz I never realized he's still only 27. But as always with him, injuries are my big concern. I think we may have a better shot to trade for him at the deadline and then convince him to re-sign using his Bird Rights, which could mean we'd have even more of Gores' money to spend this offseason!

Terrence Jones isn't a solid shooter. That's a myth. For jumpers overall he's at 31% this season, 30% last season, and 32% the season before that (even worse his rookie season but not enough of a sample size to include). Motiejunas is interesting but he's only had one season of solid play. He has to make his money when he gets healthy this season. Otherwise it would be a huge risk giving him an offer sheet that Houston wouldn't match.

Very interested in Motiejunas, but would he really fit? I know he can shoot from distance, but he also uses up a lot of post ups.

Motiejunas is a good player but he is basically a post up big that can make a 3 every once in awhile.

^Yes sir. Motiejunas is sooooo solid as a fringe stretch 4 that can score in a variety of ways. He's really impressive, it's just too bad he's been injured.
I also like Parsons as a potential forward since he's been a guy that's been underrated ever since his injury and payday. He's still capable of being the 2nd to 3rd best guy like he was on HOU. He's like a Gallinari type guy which is someone that I will always covet.
Otherwise, make GSW shut up or pay up by throwing an offer to Barnes.

I haven't read most of the thread, so apologies if his name has been mentioned already. Ramon Sessions would be a nice addition to the team should we be unable or unwilling to re-sign Jennings. Sessions seems to be a decent player with the ability to create his own shot and shots for others. He would make a nice back up to Reggie imo.

I'm all in on Horford.
I'm not all in on Barnes. Guys on *TEAMS* that good are dangerous... they look better than they actually are.
Parsons seems a little flakey and is too into himself.
Motie is intriguing, though.

Parsons seems like damaged good I would be leery of giving him a offer.

Motiejunas yes.
Jones and Parsons no.

That's what I think we need though. I want someone next to Dre who can post up as well as stretch the floor. Motiejunas is a interesting player cause he's like 7 ft as well if I'm not mistaken.

I'd rather have a face up PF or a stretch 4. I wouldn't be mad with him but it seem like it would be a small step back. Maybe I'm just scarred from watch the Monroe Dre teams.
