Who would you add from the 2004 Pistons to this team?
What player would you add to this team from the 2004 Pistons?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

For me this is a no brainer. Sheed would be perfect on this team. Though I still maintain that he was the best player on that team, so I would take Sheed 10/10 over anybody on that team, regardless of the way the question is worded.
Detroit vs. Everybody

10000% Sheed...
Although without strong locker room leaders it could get ugly.
Ben or Chauncey would be better from that POV

First seen the qustion thought Sheed. He would help.
Then though ben, but a waste we have dre.
Then thought Chauncey, maybe he can play the two, but nah we have RJ.
Then thought Rip, have to put the Offense around him, pass.
Then thought Tay, he can play SF and PF. He just has to fit into the system, he could also play the Point Forward, with lock down D with KCP. Sounds crazy, but if you think about this might be my pick.

It's a damn shame Sheed never got to play for Stan. He's perfect for what he wants to run, and the two would have got along great, meaning he'd probably still be a coach here.

Hamilton. We need more shooters. Rasheed would be awesome to have, but we already have a great 3pt shooter at PF. Yes Rasheed is a much better defender and post player, but defense and post play isn't our weakness, it's shooting, particularly at the SG spot. So I would opt to add a guy like Hamilton who can play that Klay/Korver/Booker type role that would fit so well opposite Jackson. That would have the biggest positive effect overall I think.

Adding Rasheed to this team would almost complete it. We're like the 2003 version of the Pistons. Maybe a little less since age and depth is in consideration. But we have a good team. Adding Rasheed (Al Horford?) could turn the tide. Then it's about momentum and chemistry and effort. But we don't have a Ben Wallace. Will Stanley Johnson fuel the lion's roar on the team? I sure hope so because it seems like he's got it. He's just being a rookie right now. We're still young!!

Ben Wallace was the best player on the team. Sheed had the most talent, superstar talent. Ridiculous amount like Curry. Yes him. If Chauncey and Sheed were allowed to shoot the shots Curry is now, they'll make a lot of them. And if you know how they played, you'd believe it. They don't call Chauncey Mr. Big Shot for no reason. Curry is now him but he's shooting it so often that you can't even call him the Answer. What's his nickname? Guy is lethal!

Sheed would be good but this team needs a better leader. Billups was an incredible leader. He could shoot lights out but didn't, Pistons played a slow, ball control offense.
Billups and Jackson, give them the green light to shoot. One of them always on the floor, can play 2 guard against bench guys.

Chauncey and Big Ben would be redundant rather than complementing Dre and Reggie, though neither of them have yet to reach Chauncey/Ben's peaks yet.
Sheed fits well with Dre, and does essentially everything you want from your PF today. Plays great man to man defense, check. Can play help side defense, check. Can post up when needed, check. Can stretch the floor, check. I wouldn't fault someone for taking Rip instead of Sheed though. He could be our leading scorer and give us a reliable option in the half court...though we'd basically have to scrap the 4 out 1 pick and roll 24/7 thing while he's on the floor. He was a good spot up 3point shooter (led the league shooting 46% one year in fact) but primarily he's an under the arc player.
Very true.

please don't put Al Horford and Rasheed Wallace in the same sentence. Horford does not compare to Sheed anywhere

Impact. Not talent. But I agree he doesn't

Re: Who would you add from the 2004 Pistons to this team?
The clear answer has gotta be Rasheed.
Don't get me wrong, this team has other needs.
We could use a shooting guard that's actually consistent offensively, but Rip wouldn't be without a Billups like PG. The fact that I still hate the guy for what he did towards the end of his time here and his general behavior after he left certainly doesn't help, but the fact that his play tanked the moment Billups left is a huge red flag that makes him the worst of the choices despite playing at a position of need.
Billups would make us better, but we already have our second best player at that position and there's no guarantee we could play them together.
Tay would reinforce our weakest position, but IMO is quite a bit lower impact.
Love ya Ben, but center is filled and playing you and Drummond together would be a disaster, and while we could certainly use a better backup center, this simply isn't optimal.
Rasheed as others have said would fit perfectly. For one, he's probably the most talented of the options. He strengthens the defense and gives us a PF who can stretch the floor and make passes. HIs weaknesses are rebounding and consistent effort in the post, neither of which are even really needs when you have Drummond and don't WANT another player in there posting up, crashing the boards, and gumming up the paint. He allows us to put Ilyasova into the second unit where he fits awesomely. He'd make our team so much better in so many ways.
