If not Kieff then who?

Formerly the "FREE KIEFF" THREAD

I am really starting to think that there's a legit chance that Kieff will be a Detroit Piston. Dream Scenario, Kieff is stretched and forces his way to Detroit, or we trade Illy or some equally flexible asset for Kieff. I've read there is little interest in the market, though as deadline nears and playoff seedings become more apparent , i expect that to change. He's been suspended for throwing a towel and hitting a coaches leg and got 3 DNP's while healthy.

The End is Near

The Time is Now

THE MAJOR QUESTION is Kieffs attitude and Detroit has remedy to that problem in Marcus. SVG has control of that lockeroom and Marcus understands that, the team understands that and so will Kieff. They both are hungry and want to win. MORE IMPORTANTLY win together!

Kieff is better than any PF we have and brings the versatility we need . He helps take that next step towards our goal.

Free Markieff Stan

#Morrislivesmatter

Rather than creating another topic about kieff figure we just build on this.

If not Kieff then who?

Factors:

Versatility on both sides of the ball
Contract
Fit
Cost to acquire
How likely we will be able to acquire

Potential players:
Ryan Anderson
Andre Bargnani
Bobby Portis(assume on of KCP or SJ is going out)
Noah Vonleh
Kelly olynk

*feel free to add, i'll do my best to update

Assume that character is not a issue because team situation matters, we literally have the piece of the puzzle to make him happy, and our team is full of players with "questionable character".

Not only that, but we can keep him away from other teams we're battling with for the playoffs. Namely the Raptors.

Do. Not. Want. And before Markieff is traded elsewhere Stan should have a one-on-one, man-to-man, sitdown talk with Marcus and explain that we're not going to acquire Markieff, reasons why, and that we want Marcus here, but if he ultimately wants to be with his brother that we'll see if there is a deal to be made to make the Kieff trade a three way so both brothers end up together. Marcus is going to become a bench player as soon as next season - so trading him now would be selling high (and potentially before the attitude issues present themselves - he could pull a Markieff on us when Stanley starts over him).

Markieff goes to Houston for whatever they agree to, and then we send Marcus there for Motiejunas and back-up SF type.

If SVG trades for him I'm ok with it. After watching Ersan for 30 games he isn't starting quality or holding his own. I think it's a gamble and it can payoff big, look at Reggie he was considered a "locker room cancer" as well. Plus with Stanley he hasn't been playing well yet let him earn it. Marcus played off the bench in Phoenix. If he got legit beat for the starting spot I don't think he would be mad.

Go get him, We have a clear hole in our lineups having only one legit low post player who is Drummond and he's not the best at it either. Put Keiff next to Dre who is a all around better player then anyone we currently have while plugging Ersan in off the bench to drain 3s and take some charges lol.

If SVG the coach is cool with it I absolutely would. Look not all temperments fit every city, style. The Morris twins are Philly type, working class no bull, don't be soft or I won't be type. Pistons have a great window of opportunity to make it to the ECF and trade-worthy type player in Illy. Both Morris twins fit the style here on lots of levels. Would it work long term? That's the risk.

This is the after effect of why the Marcus trade was so genius. Not sure if it was planned (probably not), but by getting Marcus it was inevitably going to cause a rift there and eventually lead to a Markieff trade. And as that unfolds in a not so pretty fashion and other teams become scared off, the Pistons sit comfortably with nothing to worry about, knowing Kieff would be happy as a clam here with Marcus, and in the end we've pilfered 2 very good forwards for nada.

Maybe Markieff + Booker for Blake + Meeks?

i like him and i think he could help make this team better but hes not our longterm answer and i want to see what we could possibly add in the offseason. he and his brother woukd be great options off of the bench for us but using our projected cap space for a guy who isnt the longtime answer isnt wise.

If we had to give a first to get rid of Ben Gordon, they may have to give someone a first to get rid of Markieff. Booker is like a first, so I think it make sense. Overpaying guy vs. cancer, same negative value on a team to me.

According to Zach Lowe, I'm not that far from the truth also.

Joe Dumars is a dumbass for making that trade. We're not getting Booker. They could just stretch Markieff and take a $4.5ish cap hit the next five years. A future first is much less perceived value than a known entity current rookie. I believe we should have drafted Devin, but PHX isn't trading him for the cost of dumping Kieff.

he is trouble maker like marcus. marcus can get mad, if we don't get his brother :)

Hrm, if the Pistons could get Goodwin in a deal, might be a good play. I think he has more potential then Bullock/Hilliard, he's a really good athlete.

ersan + future (2018) second for kief and goodwin? Getting disgruntled above average starters is a great way to uncover talent. And there isn't really an issue with redistributing minutes he can just absorb ersans.

Ersan is one of our only true knock down threats.

I have no interest in him. Marcus is excelling here because he;s NOT with Kieff. why mess with it.
Kieff has just proved that he's a punk. Don't need that sh** here.

I don't think Marcus is excelling here because Keiff is not here. They were both good together in college and the pros. Let's not forget the two of them playing together were also helping Phoenix to 50 win seasons. Phoenix fans were also talking about how good they were and everyone would have laughed these trades off the table.

Their front office has just made mistake after mistake including promising their players one thing and doing another just like how Dragic left cause he said he didn't trust them anymore. Then it was Marcus's fault in the offseason and everything was supposed to get better with him gone cause he was the cancer and he's been more then fine here. I just can't picture him coming here and throwing **** at SVG and all this other crap. I have no doubt that we instantly become a better team adding him.

Please No! Markeiff is a career 32% 3point shooter, You guys think we look bad shooting, Just wait till you have a starting lineup of Both Morris twins, Drummond, KCP and Reggie.

By bringing in Markeiff you'd HAVE to get rid of KCP and sign a starting SF that can shoot very well to combat the bad spacing. Look at LAC. Even with JJ their spacing is horrid bc of Blake and Jordan. And thats with a PG that can shoot
