Asik + Anderson + Pondexter

for

Baynes + Ilyasova + Jodie Meeks

Pelicans save 21-23M by dumping Asik and get a cheap replacement in Ilyasova at 8M for next season.

Anderson is a huge upgrade over Ilyasova and Asik needed a change of scenery. Pondexter is cheap (3M), signed for the next two year, and is shooting 38% from 3Pt this season.

Our cap space also stays the same as Asik/Pondexter would be paid the same 12M we owed to Meeks/Baynes

Asik is incapable of playing offense. I'd really rather have Baynes which is frightening to say.

Plus Asik's contract is disgusting. I'd rather keep our shooters even though Meeks hasn't really shown anything ever since coming here.

Taking on Asik is too hefty a price. That's a cap eater contract we can't afford.

The real target in this trade is Ryan Anderson, right? He's good (on one end), but he's a FA. Pondexter is a small positive asset, Asik is a huge negative, and together they're still a big negative. I'd take those three for NOTHING (if we had the space), perhaps, but I'm not giving up Baynes (neutral at worst), Ilyasova (positive asset, has an additional year over Anderson), and Meeks (neutral at worst, because he's not expensive). That's just a poor deal for us long term.

Asik is terrible not taking on that contract to pay Anderson.

Anderson is a horrible defender and Erson is easily better then him on that end of the floor. Pass all day long. Massive upgrade my ass. I will replace Erson at the drop of a hat but not for someone even worse defensively then him.

Is Anderson really better than Ersan? He takes four more shots and 1 more three per game. If you gave that to Illy they'd probably be close to the same. Anderson averages .5 more boards also plays 3-4 more minutes per game. I guarantee he doesn't take charges like Illy

Ersan is the first guy SVG asked about coming to Detroit. He knows exactly what he gets from him. With that said, he's also coached Anderson. I don't believe he'd trade Ersan for him. He'd probably rather sign Anderson in FA and that'll likely happen considering how much money we have. I'm just worried he'll overspend for him.

Why? Disrupt team chemistry during the first decent season we've seen in a while? What is it about Baynes that so many people seem to dislike? He has been a pretty good back up center for the Pistons. As has been noted, if SVG really wants Anderson he can sign him in the off season as he's a UFA. Pondexter is injured and out for the remainder of the season.

If Asik is our backup center we don't win last night and a whole handful of other games when Dre is getting hacked. The ft parade would just continue and we'd be helpless. There's nothing Anderson, whatever false perceived upgrade he is, would be able to do about it. Can't wait until free agency is over and he's on Sacramento or something because I'm so sick of hearing his name.

I would almost consider this just to remove Meeks.

this and asik is quite possibly the worst offensive player in the league.

I think New Orleans would be so happy to do this deal they would even give up a 1st to facilitate.

Well it wouldn't really do anything since we are taking on Asik's massive contract, we'd be in a worse situation salary wise.

Regardless, I was half joking. I would prefer to keep Baynes, but would like to find a way to move Meeks.

Asik average per year is 11 per 4 year contract Baynes is 6.5 3 years, plus Baynes is better. It's not even close who is more valuable.
