The correct answer is misspelled — it's Chuck DALY, with no "e."

Daly
Brown
SVG
And I love SVG. But he isn't in their class.

1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Daley vs Brown vs SVG: Who's the best of the 3?
Daly and Larry imo are in the conversation for ~top 4-5 nba coaches of all time. I'd take Daly...not too fond of the way Larry left here, and I think Daly had a more difficult job to do in terms of managing personalities.
SVG is a great coach, but he's not an all time great coach.

Re: Daley vs Brown vs SVG: Who's the best of the 3?
I feel like I can't really vote on this. SVG has done nothing to put himself in the conversation with the other two, they are both all-time greats. Hopefully, when his career is over he will have earned the right to be listed with them, but not yet.
I was too young to follow the Pistons or appreciate what Daly did as a coach, so I couldn't say definitively that he's the better coach. Also, I was very unhappy with the way Larry Brown left the Pistons and circumstances surrounding that, for that reason he will always get a blemish on his resume from me when it comes to conversations like this. SVG-Not there yet. My personal bias won't let me vote for Brown. Don't have enough insight to definitively say Daly (though, that's who I'd very much like to vote for). So, I'll abstain.

Re: Daley vs Brown vs SVG: Who's the best of the 3?
best coach while coaching the pistons or best coach in general?
brown and daly obviously have won a title (two in daly's case) but SVG has as good a track record as daly and probably a better one than brown.
brown's career win % is .548, daly's is .593 and SVG's is .606. SVG's only season below .500 was last year and he's led two different teams to 59 wins. brown's best year was 56 wins and daly's was 63.
if we're talking about track record with the pistons then you obviously can't compare SVG to the other two but just going by their entire track records SVG is definitely comparable.

In fairness to Stan, Daly and Brown weren't what they are today before they won their championships either though. Stan has potential to join that class eventually. You never know. He could end up winning multiple titles with Drummond and someday be tops on this list.
For now though I vote
1. Daly
2. Brown
3. SVG
Kind of a moot debate though as I suspect that is how everyone will vote.

I was born in 89 so I don't know much about Daly. I'd probably go Daly, Brown, and SVG for now. Brown was the only coach I wanted after we fired Carlisle I thought he could get us over the top, he did. Wish he would've stayed longer tho

Give SVG the personnel brown had and I think they still win in 04.

eh I don't know about that. That was Stan's first year coaching. Doubtful a rookie HC beats Phil Jackson with 4 HOFers.
2016 Stan with that roster maybe, but he wasn't ready to win a championship yet in '04.

I'm talking current Stan since Daly and Brown were vet coaches by the time they won.

Re: Daly vs Brown vs SVG: Who's the best of the 3?
Very different people. Daly was the best at managing his players, not unlike a Phil Jackson. He was the most beloved, in part due to the back-to-back championships, and also the best dressed.
Brown was the best X and O coach. He was the best at teaching the game and a brilliant strategist, but could also be a douche.
Jury is still out on SVG. He'll be judged a bit differently than the other two due to the dual role he fills, but unless he wins at least 1 championship what ever else he does isn't going to matter in this comparison.

Way to early to have this discussion with SVG included, Brown vs Daly would have been more interesting.

Re: Daly vs Brown vs SVG: Who's the best of the 3?
Daly is probably one of the best player's coach in the history of the league. He was loved by players that played under him. Great at managing egos and pushing players hard.
Brown was simply brilliant in not only getting every drop of talent out there, but also having Xs and Os being carefully managed. His only flaw was the fact that he isn't really liked all that much especially from management and can come off as extremely stubborn to a fault. Definitely has some character flaws underneath the genius. I believe a lot of coaches or former coaches in the NBA come from his lineage so to speak.
SVG maybe a little bit of both up there. His Xs and Os are pretty good, although he can also be stubborn as hell with his weird rotations and such. He needs to win a title for him to prove anything though, but that's not the only thing he has to do IMO. He may either be like a Sloan type who never wins all the way or may be a Daly type who wins a couple or maybe even like Coach Pop.

Daly was like a father to Dennis Rodman. He will be forever in my Pistons memories. Blaha would always talk about how he dressed (fancy suits) during the broadcast. Pure Gold.
