Probably the heaviest dunk contestant of all time or close to it.

Don't know how Dre will hold up since Lavine makes it look effortless but props to him for getting his hat in the ring.

Lavine will be tough to beat for sure. Maybe Dre will have a chance since it's such a completely different style, not gonna beat him at his own game.

Either way, I'm very excited. Last year's dunk contest was one of the best in years, hopefully that continues this year and Dre is a big part of it. I look forward to Reggie (or Jennings) setting Dre up for some sick dunks

Woah he almost made that legit from the free throw line dunk, pretty impressive. I wonder does he still have those hops since he is much heavier now.

I'm not hating on Dre, he's my favorite player, but this is him in a nutshell -- for the recognition, for fun, for friends, that's his primary motivation for everything. He'll enjoy himself and be all smiles and it'll be cool, but it's not the kind of thing a killer competitor does.

He'll probably set him up for more dunks in the dunk contest alone than he has done the ENTIRE season!

Those two did the dunk contest because they're killer competitors. They want to beat everyone at everything. Dre did not agree to the dunk contest for that reason, he just wants to go out there, get high fives from the superstars and hang out.

It's fine but if he does poorly I could see a long pouting stretch in real games.

here's some of what he can do:

(starting at 0:40)

he's heavier now but if he has the same bounce he can do some nice dunks.

The dunk contest is not the type of thing a killer competitor does? That clearly wasn't thought all the way through.

im pumped to see him in this, even if its because they needed the token big man. i think he could do alright, or totally bomb.

id imagine he still has a lot of bounce in that big frame of his.

No way he can do that stuff now. Maybe the power tomahawk, but nothing through his legs.

i'm pretty sure i've seen dre do through the legs recently. i think it was in warmups or something, can't remember exactly when.

you'd be surprised how "easy" it is to dunk through your legs off of one foot if you have long arms. you can put the ball through your legs on the way up so you don't need to get nearly the amount of lift/hangtime as you do off of two feet. the only problem is it doesn't look that nice when big guys do it.
