Would you trade Meeks for an expiring who doesn't help this season?

Do we want Meeks back next season or is his salary too much for what he might bring?
Assume the expiring won't help the playoff push.

Why would the acquiring team want Meeks for next season?

Meeks needs to go. No doubts about that. A waste of a player.

I dont think he can be traded unless we take on a bad contract or he is a part of a much larger deal.

There's no incentive for a team to take on Meeks. If he could help a team enough to warrant that it would be in our best interests to keep him.
So yeah, of course I would. But this post implies that it's an option.

But, Meeks could be a throw in on a deal for another player or two.

What about Jennings, Meeks, and possibly Bullock and Anthony for expiring(s)?

Expirings to do what with? We're not exactly a free agent destination. Anthony and Jennings are expiring themselves, so the other team would be taking on Meeks 7M and Bullock's 2.5M for ???

What a terrible bust of a signing!
Meeks was given a big contract (for his skill level) to do one thing....and even that didn't work out.
Not sure why anyone would want him other than as a salary filler at this point.

I think Meeks could have fit in well with what SVG is trying to do. Unfortunately, injuries stopped that from happening. At this point, if we can get anything in return, great, or even just to get out from under his contract next year, that would be good too.

Meeks for Lou Williams or Marco Belinelli?

I would, but it's not a particularly big deal either way. Meeks' contract isn't going to make-or-break Detroit's ability to offer a max contract this offseason nor is it going to be much of a hindrance if they miss out on a big free agent and settle for lower tier players. If he stays healthy next season Meeks is pretty much the ideal shooter off the bench the Pistons need. That's a big if, but not an unreasonable gamble to take.

Is Meeks expected to be healthy next season or does he have a situation that casts doubt on his playing next year? I thought it was the first...

As far as I know Meeks' current injury shouldn't be a bug concern over the long-term. With his luck in Detroit though... you can never be sure.

I'd go ahead and trade him for an expiring. It would give us more cap space and possibly get Anderson and another guard if that's what SVG is looking for.

If that's the case, his contract doesn't seem that awful.

I'm OK with Meeks + 2nd for Lou Williams, actually. From the TT Board.
Meeks is dead money for this year, and risky for next. Lou has two more years at 7 per (one extra).
It's not a slam dunk or anything, but everyone looks goofy in LA this year, don't judge him on that.

I'd take that and run. No taksies backsies.

I would trade Meeks for any deal about now. Unfortunately, it is about impossible to trade a player who is injured and may not come back.
