Who would We have Got for KCP and a First Round Pick?

Post#1 » by pistontr » Sat Feb 20, 2016 6:49 am

I know almost every body see KCP asa rising star. SVG thinks we don't need the first round pick. Who would we get for this package. You can also add Ilyasova to this.

The Trade Deadline was yesterday and Ersan Ilyasova is no longer a member of the Pistons...

Also, we no longer have a first round pick. Case closed.

Lol seriously. From the way the board was gushing over him a couple weeks ago you would think he's a superstar or something. I remember seeing the term "Curry Stopper" thrown around like a dozen times in a non-sarcastic way. So to add a 1st round pick to go along with Kentavious Caldwell-Goat should get us back at least a top 10 player

lol In all seriousness, I have no idea what his trade value is, but I'm curious to know too. It's possible we offered him for Fournier and got turned down, so who knows.

I think the better question would be on what teams would he be an upgrade at their starting SG spot? That would give a better sense of what teams would give up for him, because if the answer is not many, then not many teams are going to give us much for a player they'd be bringing off the bench.

Going through all the teams starting 5s, honestly the only teams I think he would be a clear upgrade on that might have interest is BKN and PHI. Not saying that to diss him, but when you really go through each team every one has a SG as good or better already (or someone who fits what they need more - like JR Smith's shooting for CLE).

The ones who blame kcp better blame the all star and the point guard of the future

Combining a couple rumor/snippets - Stan tried to get Fournier from the Magic in the Harris deal, and Morey initially wanted a player from Detroit for DMo. I wonder if the grand plan was Jennings, Ilysova, first for Harris and Fournier, and then KCP for DMo.

I could buy that. That's actually a pretty reasonable conclusion. Stan was dangling the pick hard and wanted any semblance of shooting ever since Meeks went out and we lost Singler/Butler (yuck).

I'm just glad we got my sleeper favorites in Harris and 3MO.

This team goes as far as Reggie and Drummond carry them. Right now they have been playing like they could give a **** less about wins or losses and it's now starting to really hurt us.

we could not trade drummond or jackson, couldn't we? I am the only one here to say jackson is not even a decent point guard but we overpaid him. untradebale.

So you're basically trading KCP for a guy who's probably going to get a huge, questionable deal. I'm not a big KCP fan, but I'd probably pass. Fournier is overrated at this point.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Fournier is shooting 39.5% from three, KCP is shooting 30.5%. I'd rather have a shooting guard who can actually shoot. And KCP is a Rich Paul represented guy, he's going to get paid as well.

They don't know better. Probably new to basketball and really excited. They haven't have to wait through development and building a team. It's the NBA2K age.

KCP is a terrible offensive player. Face it. He's just plain bad. His shot is inconsistent, he can't drive worth a damn, and his handles are laughable. There is zero fluidity to his game. He makes the most awkward and robotic moves when he tries to do something off the dribble. He has the offensive court sense of a mediocre 6th grader. He's a good defender but vastly overrated by Piston fans. On the rare day he's not playing hung over he can make guys work for their points but he's nothing special. He's not a "rising star". He's a poor mans Thabo Sefolosha but with a more active social life. He is gone after this season. SVG is not going to put up with Rich Paul's **** for a player of KCP's caliber. Thorton was brought in to take his place.
