I think we're going to miss the playoffs.

That's a bummer. I guess it's better than doing the trade and then him not being able to play. But still :(

Ouch. Very mixed emotions here; I really wanted him and loved the thought of him next to Dre, but you can't trade a first rounder for a guy who literally CAN'T PASS A PHYSICAL.

Also really disappointed not to be getting Thornton. He was no great shakes, but he was SOMEONE who could spell KCP and provide shooting off the bench some nights. I guess, in the end, from chaos comes opportunity — Darrun Hilliard, here's your chance to prove you belong in an NBA rotation.

It sucks because Pistons is a cool franchise with a good direction. Rockets will drive D-Mo price down by not playing him, noone will offer anything much for DMo, Rockets will give him pennies and keep him against his will.

Poll please. (Are you glad?)

Well, firstly...I am disappointed that he ended up having health concerns because 7 footers that can post up and shoot the 3 ball don't grow on trees. Seemed like it was too good o be true. Morey trades a skilled 25 year old 7 footer for what may be a 14th-16th pick in a weak draft (we were .500 at time of trade) who also happens to be a restricted free agent? Seems like the back injury had more implications than SVG expected when he trade.

Not even excited that we get to keep the pick. I've been on this board watching us lose for a while and I'm not interested in keeping up with the lottery each year anymore, it's playoffs or disappointment.

Have to say I'm a bit relieved. Between the back and contract situation it was uneasy.

No harm done...except we just lost Tolliver. Yeah I'm not sure about this season anymore. Looks like Morris will play more PF and Hilliard getting a big shot at SG

Added.

I guess it's more of a disappointment than anything. The idea of a healthy Motiejunas next to Drummond or at least as a significant part of the rotation was nice. But apparently that's all it ever was, an idea. Can't blame the front office for not wanting to take the risk on a big guy with serious back issues and an upcoming contract. I don't think Houston looks bad here either, maybe their doctors evaluated Motiejunas differently. Who knows, it's hard to say.

Not getting Thornton is fine though. I would rather the team develop Hilliard.

Guys I'm a medical student. I read about Motiejunas's injury. It's not serious but it will occasionally flare up every now and then. It's a recurrent situation but the key factor here is DMO is a big man and that's a good thing to back issues. Big men with back issues get out of the league and lose their legs very quickly. Knowing how doctors work, DMO really didn't pass the physical. He was probably still in pain and getting back spasms. Personally I don't care for the trade. I think it would make us much better but if he's gonna be injured like that, it's not worth it. What I'm more worried about is Tolliver going down. Sad part of the season right now. We need last season's 10 game win streak pretty badly

Not happy. We still have the opportunity to sign him in FA though and give up no pick, so maybe that was the thinking here - if we're going to take the gamble on him, why risk a 1st rd pick too if we don't have to?

On other side, if he really did have issues that turned us off completely, better to know now, as we were expected to pursue in FA anyways and could've made a bad signing

I wonder if signing Bargnani could be a possibility.
