Would you blow it up for Jimmy Butler??

With the team looking like they are headed for the lottery yet again, do we consolidate our assets and finally make a run for the playoffs?

To Chicago: 2016 1st Top 1 protected, 2018 1st Top 3 protected, KCP, Stanley Johnson, Meeks, Bullock, Dinwiddie

To Detroit: Jimmy Butler

Reggie / ------
Butler / ------
Tobias / ------
Mook / -------
Drummond / Baynes

We would have to fill out our bench but this would give us a legit 1st option in Butler.

KCP is nothing special and it would take years for Stanley to become the player Butler is right now.

I'm not even sure Chicago would make this deal, but I think it's time to cash in and take this rebuild to the next phase, being competitive

Yes I would do that trade without hesitation.
I'd also hardly consider that "blowing it up" since our 4 of our starters remain.

Derrick Rose has started to play well so I doubt they would even do that trade.

Sure. Chicago wouldn't though. Without him they don't have a star to build around (Rose hardly counts at this point).

There is no way in the world that trade ever happens. It would be like asking if you would trade for Anthony Davis. Why put the obvious answer.

Yeah, Jimmy would be the best player on the team and take so much pressure off of Reggie. No incentive for the Bulls to do this really. They look solid with the strides Rose has made the past month and a half or so.

Never in a million years would Chicago ever trade Butler or any franchise player to Detroit of all teams. It is delusional to think it could ever happen.

Unless, you really like playing NBA2k16.

Can't say we're going to the Lottery after winning against cleveland and we have 76ers next. But I definitely wouldn't blow it up for Butler. But I would trade Stanley Johnson and a first round pick for Butler. He'd complete our team

Butler would be our best player and I'd be down with that.

But this would never happen, the Bulls would rather give up on Rose than give up Butler. Jimmy is a player you build around due to his multiple ability to score off and on ball.

we're not getting any of these guys

Giving up both KCP and SJ, nah. I still believe in KCP, I love SJ. Maybe if one of them are in the deal. Doubt Chicago trade him. They will probably get rid of Rose and keep him

We finally have depth when healthy and everyone is young with room to keep growing. Keep the team and let them continue to gel. Reap the rewards of consistency

Honestly any trade that sees us with only one first rounder in the next 3 years scares me a lot.

I doubt they'd do it either, Butler is probably an untouchable for them.

I don't think butler is the quality of player that is worth giving up so much of your future/depth for. players like LeBron in his prime or curry nowadays absolutely are because with them your team is guaranteed to compete every year - that's how good they are. butler is a great player but doesn't have that dominant impact.

The only thing here that really hurts from my view is Johnson. The picks will probably be mid first type.

Butler is going to be 27 in September. He's a really good player but clearly below the top tier. The Bulls had a deeper team last year than we would and they still lost in the 2nd round and got their coach fired.

I know everyone is hungry for playoff basketball, but I'm not in a rush to jam our window open now while Lebron is still doing his thing and the Warriors are on an all time pace. I'd rather take my chances on the 19 year old Stanimal / 23 year old KCP / 2 1st round picks and let the team grow organically. I tend to believe the Cavs window is a bit shorter than most, Lebron is already 50th in all time regular season minutes / 7th in playoff minutes, at his current pace he'll be top 20 in 2 years. He's showing signs of wearing down and basketball takes it's toll on everyone, I think we are going to be prime East contenders with another couple seasons of internal growth just in time for the East to open up.

He is the best Shooting Guard in the NBA if you value defense.
