KCP/Bullock/Hilliard/Meeks/Stanley

Most likely, KCP is entrenched next season as our starting SG. After that, it's a massive free-for-all as to who gets SG minutes.

How does this shake out? Who gets traded? (Someone - probably at least one and more likely two of these guys aren't going to be in our rotation, and they ALL are looking like quality NBA rotation pieces, at least.

Hilliard impresses me almost everytime I watch him. He might be really good down the line - he's pretty good right now.

Bullock is exactly what the Pistons can use: a true 3 and D SG. He's a big guy, and adds a more physical defense and more rebounding than KCP can provide.

Meeks is a proven impact scorer in this league - but he's two years into an injury phase of his career. I'll bet the Pistons would love to move him. Any teams out there willing to bite?

Stanley is going to be a stud at two positions, but I like him better at SF. If the Pistons add a star forward in a trade or free agency, then that might free SJ up in my eyes for more SG time. He's going to play - no question about that.

We are fine on the wings, just let them grow together for a couple of seasons. All of those guys are young and will improve in the future especially Stanley and KCP. Bullock and Hilliard are solid bench guys on cheap contracts. Its hard to get decent wings anyway i dont see a way to upgrade from what we have right now and there is no need in my opinion.
Meeks is obsolete obviously. Maybe SVG can work his magic and use his contract in the offseason to get a PG or PF, but right now he is just trade mass and has no trade value.

Meeks is the odd one out right now. The rest of the guys are on rookie deals and have been relatively productive.
The back up pg spot is crucial this off season so if meeks can be cleared off the books to make room I'd happily run with Stanley, Hilliard and bullock at the backup wing spots.

Hilliard is our redo on Afflalo and Middleton. Hilliard is already an NBA player. Hope we keep him.

If the Magic need a few million more to sign the players they need this season, I would stretch cut Meeks.

i like hilliard a lot. i think he has potential to be a really solid player for us. bullock may turn into another solid piece. i would like to see both guys stick with us and meeks be the odd man out.

We just need to free up minutes for Hilliard and Bullock, which requires Marcus/Tobias playing every available minute at PF(instead of tolliver getting any minutes at all) so that we can free up time at SF.
Also would be good to have KCP only play 33-36 minutes instead 37-40 lately.

I'll say this for sure; Hilliard besides having a really nice stroke from distance, has an ability to get into the lane and is actually a surprisingly good rebounder. He is always around the ball and doesn't gamble one way or the other. He is the definition of a solid nba rotation player.

His feet are quick and when he stops having rookie, and second year brain fats may just turn into something interesting.

All I know is this, we mat have found yet another versatile player who can play multiple positions yet agaain.

Good time to be a Piston fan right now. Real good.

I still want us to somehow land Ibaka in a trade as he is almost perfect next to Drummond. I know I'm getting ahead of myself as Harris has been damn good since starting in that slot and having morris/Harris on the floor together is a sick ass combo teams are having trouble guarding but ibaka is a shot blocker.

I don't know, but I like what's happening.

Stretch release Meeks now - no trade value, no need to have his contract as a throw in to make salaries match when teams have so much cap space available this off-season.

KCP/Hillard are pure 2-guards, Stanley is a SF who can play some 2-guard for now but will outgrow it. Bullock is a SG who can play some SF depending on the match-up. No need for Meeks - we could use that extra $4M this off-season to fill a hole elsewhere.

Stretch release is interesting, but I wouldn't do it now. It actually could be useful in offseason trades. EVen though everyone has a lot of capspace, the contracts are going to get big and that cap space is going to get used up, so an expiring contract could come in handy.

Yeah, Meeks is the only viable option on the roster for salary filler in a trade. I doubt any team would view his expiring deal as much of a negative. With Bullock and Hilliard coming around he's definitely the guy most likely to be moved this offseason. I still think a healthy Meeks would fit in the rotation, but there isn't much of a need for him now.

Unless we have a chance to sign a star and need extra money, using the stretch provision on Meeks doesn't make any sense. It won't create much extra money and he's an exp contract. Better to just wait another season and have him off the books for good than have to pay him for years for nothing. Plus he's still a quality reserve that would be good insurance to have, and his contract could be useful in trades next year. If the Pistons decide to not resign KCP, they will need to trade him next season to get something, and because his salary is currently so cheap we could need to add other contracts in the deal to match salary. That is where Meeks on a 6-7m exp contract can be more valuable than the stretch provision.

Johnson has the most potential, KCP is the most productive and best defender, Bullock probably is what he is at this point, Hilliard has nice court vision and the best shooting stroke, Meeks is made of glass and needs moved. Basically move Meeks if possible for anything and let KCP/Hilliard cover the 2 spot while SJ/Bullock cover the 3 with Harris/Mook at the 4.

Jackson/Draft or FA
KCP/Hilliard
Johnson/Bullock
Harris/Morris
Drummond/Baynes

Are you even allowed to stretch Meeks while having Smith stretched?

I could see us trading Meeks for a decent backup point guard with 2 or 3 years left on his deal. Jodie just doesn't have a role here and we cant trust him to stay healthy so he needs to go.

kcp is bad 3 point shooter, bad catch and shooter, bad driver and finisher, bad creater for other player, bad ball handler. good midrange shooter off dribble, good defender.
