He's a stud, not sure if we could get him without dismantling our team. Stanimal and our #1 ain't going to do it. I'm liking KCP, but would you do KCP, Stanimal and our #1?

I'm not a fan of speculating about trades. Especially Star/Superstar like Butler. I'm positive SVG and Bowers will call and do their due diligence. I just sit back and see what happens. If it happens cool if not whatever.

We have already talked about trading for him too. I wouldn't do SJ, KCP, and a 1st. I'm also pretty sure him and Rj wouldn't work to well together. It would be kinda like Rose and Butler

I'd make this trade so fast your head would spin. Dude is 26, great 2 way player, and on a pre cap explosion contract of 5 years 95, which is reasonable.

I would absolutely do KCP, Johnson our 1st. They will probably get better offers though and they probably wouldn't trade him to a rival while helping them create a possible contender for years to come.

My thing is that I absolutely will not trade two starters for anything short of a top ten player and nothing involves drummond or jackson. Butler is good, and better then Pope but he is NOT a superstar. An upgrade for sure though.

For butler they can have KCP+any bench player(s) and however many picks it takes.

That is a high 50 low 60 win team and a title contender. You round that out with even a decent bench and your winning a title within 3 years period.

Chicago will NEVER trade Butler within the conference let alone division and to Detroit so no offense but this thread should have been titled pipedream.

I would hate myself , but i'd make the trade. Only problem i see with your proposal BigLip, is that SVG is notorious for doing his due diligence on players around the league and on our team. When he considers contract, team control, and potential development. Are we really at a place where we need to make that "BIG MOVE" now?

I also wonder how much value Mook has around the league

Don't like KCP+SJ+this #1. I understand the value isn't off, and it's certainly a non-trade I could see regretting, but I don't like it. KCP is Butler's equal on one end of the floor, and far worse on the other. Do we want that offense that badly right now? To give up our two youngest prospects with potential? I... just couldn't do that. It also eats a bunch of our cap for this off-season, limiting our ability to upgrade our bench, which REALLY needs it.

It's a tough call but I do like Butler a lot. He's better than KCP is ever going to get and better than Morris is going to get. Stanley has his potential. I might do a Morris/KCP/First for Butler. I'm thinking they might go for Morris/Stanley/First. We'd be title contenders if we get him. Butler can body any forward in the league and KCP any guard. We'd have two play makers. I'm not sure who I'd want to trade away though. That's the question. Players like Butler don't grow on trees. You've got Stanley with his potential. If we can do Morris/KCP/First for Butler, I'd do it. It's just hard since I love those guys but that's why we're not in the front office.

I think they'd be looking for a more impressive piece than we're offering here. They are open to trading him but they don't need to.

Boston could give up the Brooklyn picks and any player for Butler as an example

Those saying impressive piece remember two critical things that are often overlooked;

1.)Fans and teams alike never ever get back what they think they should.

2.)Alot of people keep throwing around Boston and their picks. Trades have to make sense for them as well and I honestly don't think they are going to move the picks for Jimmy Butler.They need a bigman in the worst way, not a Butler type. I am also starting to think that Boston's front office is not going to just "we can't get anything better or what we want so let's just do it" wing it. They will hold out.

Idk Jimmy is a great player but like Joe said he and Reggie probably wouldn't play well together.
But if SVG could get it to work we would have a beast team.

It is official. Every board of RealGM has a "I want Butler" thread.

We are 2nd to last in assist percentage, having someone else to handle the ball in the half court and make plays is not a bad thing. I believe Reggie & Jimmy would make an excellent pairing. Butler is more than capable of playing off the ball as well. I don't know how realistic landing him is, but it would do a lot to improve our potential to contend.

If you have a chance to get a AllStar 2 way player like that you do it. While KCP and Johnson have potential their ultimate ceiling that they more then likely won't reach is Butler.

Yeah, we've talked about this trade a lot in here this year. I'm on board saying I'd do KCP + SJ + 2 1sts for Butler & Dunleavy. Although from what I've read on the Bulls board, it seems Butler and Dunleavy don't get along. Could we get Felicio or are they in love with him? I honestly don't think those two firsts would be anything of import. With Butler on our team, the picks would be in the mid 20s.

As others have said, though, fat chance Chicago trades him to us.

I think the combination of Stanley, KCP and our 1st have the potential to be more impactfull long term. That said... I absolutely pull the trigger because those things don't exist in a vacuum. You bring in Butler and then you can still go out and pick up another wing. Hell, we might even already have some adequate backups on our roster meaning our primary focus in FA is the same as it already was; backup PG/PF.

Yeah, I'd definitely make that trade. Detroit is on the rise anyway so the 1sts are going to lose value if things break right. I think SJ has a lot of potential but Butler is potential realized and fits like a glove between Reggie and Dre.

Adding Butler would fundamentally change the direction of the team. The team was built to be a 4-out team with heavy pick and roll, and 3 and D wings. Adding Butler doesn't advance this vision. Unless we want Butler to shoot 3s or be a 6th man, it just doesn't fit into our very specific team design.

Keep in mind, the team design arrived before most of our current roster did...
